It's the right amount of romantic, funny, and thrilling, and it does what it needs to do to make its narrative feel less derivative and more dynamic and fun.
Role Play hardly spices up the subgenre with its saucy date-night games, never as action-packed as Mr. & Mrs. Smith or as sweetly sincere as the rom-com classics that inspire this undercover tale about finding that special someone worth killing over.

Average thrills in this spy thriller. Its a fun mix of true lies meets borne identity with some great chemistry between the lead cast. Production quality is decent and the lean towards drama and comedy is brilliant. Pacing is great too. Its a decent watch for genre fans.

Role Play es una propuesta bastante sorprendente por parte de Amazon donde conocemos a una pareja que se plantean un juego de roles para salir de su monótona relación. La película tiene varios giros que la mejoran aunque a veces se siente un tanto aburrida y dilatada. La película mejora a partir de la mitad y ahí es donde se muestran todas sus virtudes. Aunque no es nada del otro jueves, los actores lo hacen bien y las localizaciones están muy bien conseguidas. Mención especial a las coreografías de acción.

Role Play is stripped of all its potential action parts, and instead is downplayed in the most basic (AKA cheap) way possible.
Role Play wants to be a star-driven caper merging complicated relationship dynamics with exciting espionage action. But despite a few brief signs of life, both sides of the film are woefully unconvincing, as are its stars. Kaley Cuoco goes way too broad, David Oyelowo looks pained, and the whole thing strains to imitate better movies.
Thanks to the sorry state of the action comedy genre as is, Role Play isn’t a total loss but it’s still much too far from a win.
It’s a shame, because Cuoco’s well-honed comic skills are very much on display and Oyelowo, working in a lighter vein than usual, seems to be enjoying himself. Which is more than you’ll be able to say about the viewers of this tired action-comedy retread.
An action comedy with feeble fight scenes and little laughs creates a film that feels more like a screen test than a finished product.

O filme até tenta, mas não empolga, dá um passo maior do que as pernas, resoluções tão fáceis de lidar que não apresentam perigo algum. E que diabos um matador vai oferecer bebida pra mulher? e que organização é essa que não liquida logo os dois quando tem oportunidade, ficam enrolando, enrolando... sério, a ideia de disfarce pode render filmes muito melhores do que esse. Gostei da química do casal, pelo menos.

Starts out well, then fizzles out midway through only to get worse and worse. The husband/wife characters don't have any chemistry at all. The villain and origin story and entire plot is poorly written, acted and edited. I really enjoyed the first season of The Flight Attendant and this had a similar vibe...until it just fell apart due to poor screenwriting, casting, and acting.
