This movie does feel like nothing more like an avengers filler before the big finale. The appearances of Robert Downey felt forced just to amp up the movie a little more, the movie seemed a bit too teeny bopper for the avengers universe. they could have done without the whole high school backstory. I really had high hopes for this movie. However, I do believe that the younger fan base will enjoy this movie a bit more than the older fan base. We get it, its a younger, immature spiderman that still needs to get used to his abilities and what not. However, going a little overboard to a point where it was just plain old annoying to watch. I hate to say it, but Tobey Maguire and his many faces was less annoying to watch. They really should have stuck with Andrew Garfield. Expand

Dear Spiderman,
I’m writing this to say we’re done. Officially it’s over. Just so we’re clear it’s not me it’s you. It’s been 15 years and although there were some good times more recently it’s more bad than good. I guess you’ve just changed so much and honestly I can’t take it anymore and I’d like to move on with my life. So by all means make your sequels, sell yourself to the MCU and down the line I’m sure yet another reboot is on the cards but I won’t be there to see it. I’m done.
It’s not that Spiderman Homecoming is terrible and it’s definitely not the worst Spiderman movie you could watch. Aside from all the high school scenes, there are some redeeming moments, most of which feature Michael Keaton. Let’s face it, he makes a good villain but it’s hardly a memorable performance. Tom Holland do I like you as Spiderman? No I don’t. You’re annoying and you have no off switch but I understand that this reinvention of the character is not aimed at me. So bring your kids to this overly long, generic Iron Man movie featuring Spiderman. It’s got the action, the endless references to the Avengers but it never gripped me. The jokes were constant and too many fell flat, the story was a drag and unfocused. I was never on the edge of my seat. There was no amazing story, no soaring score, nothing that stands out. I forgot I was supposed to be watching a Spiderman movie and I was relieved when it finally ended. So relieved I didn’t even stay for the two post credit scenes. Recommended for the fanboys, as for everyone else just skip it. Goodbye Spiderman.

However I believe this film is highly overrated and is not worthy of 90+ percent on Rotten Tomatoes due to the fact that it is just the same basic hero Vs villain as it is in every Spider-Man film. The high school parts of this film were very entertaining though and is not a huge disappointment. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. wow this movie was a big let down for me, luckily its not a total wreck and can still be enjoyed if quality isn't that important to you. because this movie has the acting of a Disney made for TV movie, and also destroys who and what spider-man is and stands for and turns him into another tony stark by removing his abilities and powers and replacing them with gadgets and technology. to be honest i think his only power is strength because for all i know his suit might also give him his climbing ability too, because he defiantly didn't have spidy sense in this movie, so everything that makes spider-man you know (SPIDER-MAN) isn't in this movie. I almost kind of wished maybe SONY should have done their film in the first place. They really checked all the diversity boxes they possibly could where it just started to feel forced. Framing shots to include all the colors and sizes of each person made me shake my head a couple of times. I'm all for diversity but trying this hard was a bit much. The action was OK, Some of the CGI was ok (ferry Scene) to very bad (final battle with Vulture) Tom Holland was very good and Keaton was great also but a lot of the supporting cast were very Disney channel level which i guess works for some, especially young adults who just don't know any better. Overall it was just another MCU episode along side their lower bar films of "Dr.Strange, Ant-Man, Ironman 2-3, Thor 2" Expand

If you're looking for far superior Spider-man film, go watch Spider-man 1 & 2 staring Tobey Maguire.

Cons
- Rehashed plot from the 2002 Spider-man film.
- Supposed to be a reboot but no backstory about how he got his power. I think as a high schooler he'll be even more troubled/confused by his new power and Uncle Ben should be in this, not Iron Man.
- Too many gadgets, overly advanced technology ruins the classic Spider-man image. Spider-man that I knew is already advanced without much of technology, because he's not Iron Man. He already got spider senses, ability to cling to most surfaces, super strength/agility, and rapid healing.
- Overly diverse characters doesn't help the story at all. It confuses the viewers. - The jokes aren't funny. The movie begins with a politically correct joke, wth.
- Aunt May supposed to be a classic wise woman who raised Peter with kind words and old time philosophy. This aunt May can't even cook and way too young, she'll probably gonna get another uncle Ben sometime soon.
- Where's uncle Ben again? Why Aunt May never talk about him? Didn't she loved him to death? Oh right this is 2017, she doesn't care about him no more.
- Ain't Peter supposed to be the opposite of Tony Stark in terms of financial, that's why he took that photo journalist job in the first place to help his aunt pay rent. Weird seeing him eating with aunt May in a restaurant so casually. I'd rather see him juggling part time job while also busting crime and school works. He got way too much time on hands.
- His high school best friend is one hell of an annoying guy.

Pros
- Cool CGI and Visual Effects.
- Iron Man & his driver.

It's a sugar coated pop culture sha-bang with so many contemporary elements that it'll look silly 20 years from now. Oh, and Flash Gordon looks like a goober, and doesn't sell the persona.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's ironic that in a culture over-saturated with superhero films, where film "fans" are decrying the state of the big budget pic and Hollywood studio moviemaking in general, continue to overpraise these same films year after year. You can't say that superhero films are "product" and aren't doing anything innovative or interesting or new and then every time a new one comes out heap tons of praise on the one aspect that differentiates it from the rest - "Wonder Woman" is a great film because it reverses gender (but does nothing else of note) and Spider-Man is because it actually stars an actor close to the age of the character he's playing and draws comparison to John freakin Hughes because it takes places in a high school and that's what Marvel execs are touting.

First off, Homecoming is a pretty terrible subtitle for multiple reasons. It flat out sounds bad is the most alarming - who thought this was acceptable? And because the eponymous Homecoming in the film really doesn't serve that much dramatic purpose. The movie kind of wants you to think it does, but it doesn't and this really applies to the film as a whole.

Tom Holland is a fitting Peter Parker. He captures the nervousness and goofiness of callow Peter, it not exactly his science geekiness (sure he invents his webs, but that's for fanboys and does nothing for his personality like it was supposed to in the comics). For a while, this is a flick about a boy trying to find his place in the world. Navigating friends, girls, school and of course being a superhero. These parts work.

Then the film transitions (and fairly early on) into a one-note movie about a boy wanting to be an Avenger. Not a hero, not a boy becoming a man by learning responsibility, just an action figure with a cool suit. The film takes the entire premise of Spider-Man the hero - "With great power comes great responsibility" - and turns that into a dilemma about learning the powers of one's supersuit. Tony's pivotal line in this movie is the most embarrassing misrepresentation of a character's identity I've yet seen in one of these kinds of films - "If you're nothing without the suit then you're nothing." - except of course that's not even remotely true. The suit is basically an Iron Man costume in spandex and Peter spends large chunks of time trying to figure out fancy custom web configurations. Not learning responsibility or growing up or maturing, just you know, playing with his new complex super-toy.

Suffice it to say that the final revelation that happens during the Homecoming scene means nothing. Peter doesn't have to do any growing in order to succeed, he just lucks into finding Vulture and then does everything he was told not to but this time around the world is saved so it's fine. And the joke they make at the end about Peter becoming an Avenger (it's a test right?) is so stupid and out of place dramatically that it just shows how completely thematically confused this whole film is.

Final thoughts: MJ drop mattered none - her longing look completely unearned. Keaton is great as Vulture, his motivation relevant, but grossly underutilized and developed. Action scenes are choppy for the most part. Also, is Laura a cool girl or a geek? Somehow both and yet inexplicably likes Peter for no reason whatsoever. Peter gets it all, learns nothing. Millennial Spider-Man indeed.

Also this film loves it some Raimi Spider-Mans (don't we all?). The upside down kiss tease. The line about Aunt May not understanding Peter's body's "changes." If only...

Make it controversial so everyone watches it? I have no idea. What I *do* know is that 'Spiderman Homecoming' feels shallow: The main villain isn't threatening and both he and Iron Man just recite their lines and look bored as hell. Raimi's Spiderman still is - at least for me - the better movie in just about every aspect. Expand

Spider Man: Homecoming follows the long list of films that have been wasted by the great company Marvel. The only thingSpider Man: Homecoming follows the long list of films that have been wasted by the great company Marvel. This film lacks all kind of plot base and sometimes the notion of previous facts is lost (especially by skipping events). The only thing I saw was a main character who all along sought the acceptance of Tony Stark. On the other hand, the uncle of Peter Parker is never named, apparently because they do not want to hurt the sensibility of the lesser public that wants to see this film, done by which it seems that Marvel decided that at no time was shown even a drop of blood or some blow. I understand that it is made also to be seen by children, but neither is meant to allow so much lack of realism (in a specific scene above all, in which Peter receives several blows and then gets up with a bit of dirt on his face).
Besides this, it is incredible the eagerness that they have for not killing characters. Blows, falls, explosions, combats, etc. and nothing serious happens.
There are many characters that I think were included in the plot but do not influence it. Many situations are not given importance or are unnecessary.
On the other hand, the moments of combat are quite good, especially in two situations. If you don't see it, you don't lose much either, especially having the Tobey Maguire trilogy to see or to see it again.
In short, I think it's a bad movie with good moments, which misses its potential. A regular start for the new Spider Man.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Spiderman homecoming was pretty disappointing, but you can't please everybody right? The SJW comments throughout the movie really made me feel uncomfortable, and they were totally unnecessary. The constant stuttering dialog was absolutely terrible and most of the relationships felt forced between characters. Why do I need to see this dumb ass hand shake twice in the movie? It just felt really out of place. Toward the ending when Vulture and Peter Parker had their little conversation in the car, I thought that's when the acting really shined. The guy who plays Spiderman can act, but the director did not utilize him correctly in the whole movie until that scene. A few continuity errors with the AUDI SPONSORED DRIVING SCENE. Parker steals the Audi from flash which had its headlights on already, and smashes into a few bikes. Then Parker drives off with the headlights magically turned off, but the tails are on ( meaning the headlights are on too). He had to ask his boy how to turn them on. Also there is no damage from him hitting the bikes with the front end of the car. I give this movie a 5 because of Hannibal Buress, Michael Keaton and the chick who plays Aunt May. Other than that, take your kids to see it, I am by far no die hard marvel fan but this movie was a total cringe fest. Expand

The one weNow back in Marvel’s hands, fans are finally guaranteed to love Spider-Man again. Personally, I say Tobey Maguire still has the best cinematic version, with Spider-Man: Homecoming coming out on top over the Andrew Garfield version. The one we got now gives a brand spanking new take on the famous webslinger, one maybe a little too reliant on jokes for an emotionally satisfying experience. I admit it works in delivering another really funny movie by Marvel Studios, even though the other disliked clichés of the franchise are still here, including his ridiculous pose in front of the American flag. What possibly went wrong here? Well…

Several of the plot details may shut some viewers off. A blatant “save the cat” scenario comes up early on, which may not sound too lame for anyone unfamiliar with what it means, until a coincidental plot twist and the most unromantic of marriage proposals dissatisfies any feel of logic. Besides Tony, nobody in the overly male cast has any personal ambition to exist other than to progress Peter’s journey at the most unbelievably convenient times. So no need to include Spidey in any “Screenwriting 101” courses.

I cannot say that Stark’s version of the patriot-colored costume tops all over versions; a couple of unnecessary gadgets, including a drone from his chest, drags it down too much to feel like the classic Spider-Man. His webbing also breaks too easily compared to Maguire’s and Garfield’s Spider-Men. While plenty of moments could have matched the intensity of Spider-Man 2’s train rescue, it ultimately misses those opportunities. For instance, the ferry repair we all saw in the trailer ends too soon, aside from our hero forming a very on-the-nose crucifix pose.

If anything, this movie works best from all its small, brief moments that connect to the rest of the MCU. To go into greater detail, it introduces our main hero with a hilarious video diary featuring Peter’s perspective of the Civil War battle. Then he attempts to contact his mentor through a long chain of unanswered texts (again, very funny). These small moments all open up chances for the adorkable wall crawler to just have some fun, especially when he has to learn his web shooter settings. The rest of the cast outside of Tom Holland also puts in their A-game: Jacob Batalon, who plays Peter’s best friend, times his jokes perfectly. Even Marisa Tomei understands her role beyond just being “hot Aunt May,” and delivers moments when she genuinely tries to help her confused, secretive nephew. Overall, Spider-Man: Homecoming has now become the best acted, and most racially diverse, MCU movie to date.

Yes, like New York City itself, the cast swims in a melting pot of color. Marvel very much strives for a new, inclusive version of the American arachnid, which is great, but the extra ethnicities contribute no storytelling purpose. Make Peter’s Black love interest a Jew, and the plot remains unchanged. Turn the wimpy Indian bully Flash into the blonde-haired macho man he was intended to be, and again, nothing changes.

In fact, I wish we got to see more of the high school setting than Peter’s underused classmates. Rather than social media trends and fidget spinners, we instead watch genius kids solving problems better than the CIA. The “Totally 80’s” themed homecoming dance itself lasts only a few moments, and when we see it, it looks exactly opposite of the 1980’s. Although the homecoming setting does turn briefly hilarious by incorporating the awkward homecoming photo session under dad’s careful hawk’s eye.

Outside of the high school world, both New York and DC are key locations throughout the feature. The makeup and hairstyling job on the entire cast looks great in the different locations, but if you rewrote the script to take place in Malaysia, the story remains unaltered.

Although Spider-Man: Homecoming did get one thing right about New York’s culture: the rebellious nature of its teenagers. Even compared to the other Avengers, no parent would want to raise a selfish kid like Peter. Like his counterpart Deadpool, Spider-Man defaces public property, steals cars, hates authority, and lies to everyone so that he can have fun fighting bad guys. He treats criminals like they deserve just to be bullied around by some kid. His mentor, Iron Man, even gives him a great moral, saying, “If you’re nothing without the suit then you should not have it,” yet the ending contradicts his sensical message. Teens nowadays deserve better role models.

So therefore, I personally prefer the whimpering Tobey Maguire over the kid with the hot aunt; yet I prefer the single antagonist he fights here, however badly designed he may be, over the excessive plastering of villains pitted against Garfield. So the overall perfect version of Spider-Man may never exist, but for what we got now, it’ll do.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Spider-Man Homecoming has good moments surrounded by an average movie. Peter Parker never has any struggles to overcome and therefore he has no character development. Yes, he literally lifted some rubble off his head which was the strongest part of this movie. The main issue to overcome was Tony Stark taking away his suit, but Peter learned nothing from this and did not act any different; there was no change to his character.

The villain also was pretty terrible. If Spider-Man stopped pursuing the villain he would have been left alone. The villain did not care about Spider-Man except Spider-Man kept forcing himself to be in the way. The villain could have been replaced by basically any gangster and it would have been the same movie.

On that note, Spider-Man could have been replaced by any hero and would have had the exact same movie. It was more of a Marvel movie than it was a Spider-Man movie. The entire movie and especially the climax had extremely muted colours, no memorable music except for the opening which used the cartoon theme. The climax did not have Spider-Man defeat the villain but instead the villain more so defeated himself.

Spider-Man reluctantly accepts his power and fights a villain because he has to. He uses his powers at first in a greedy way because he needs the money (Wrestling, taking photos of himself to sell) because he has to take care of Aunt May. But in Homecoming life is pretty easy for him.

But it did have redeeming qualities; it was funny, the opening sequence where he was trying to be a friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, the supporting cast, the actor Tom Holland was also great.

Michael Keaton is given very less screen time. We would have liked to see his reasons for being bad guy other than just money. I felt like this was a wasted opportunity. In other spiderman movies villains always had a good story and reasons for being villainous. Look at green goblin from first movie or sandman from spiderman 3.

It was frustrating to see spidey failing so hard at everything. Spoilers ahead. Iron man comes to save his ass 2-3 times in the movie. He has no capability to use his spider senses. He gets hit by everything coming his way. All in all what I am trying to say is this version of spiderman doesn't feel like a superhero or even a guy who is on a journey to become one.

Spoilers ahead. He is only able to capture vulture because of vulture's own flaws. He shows little remorse for his friend Liz because she lost her father. The movie seems to be made half-heartedly. I really wanted this movie to be good but I was disappointed. Watching this movie just made me realise how good those early movies by Sam Raimi and Tobey Mcguire were.

Homecoming is at least better than amazing spiderman though. That was one piece of holy crap.

Uncle Ben being replaced by Tony Stark is questionable, most of the characters were dull and unmemorable, and the sidekick is just not very interesting or funny. There were also no mentions or scenes of spidey senses at all, which should be integral to a Spider-Man movie. But most of all, my biggest problem with this movie was Peter Parker's motivations. Rather than save people because of morality and responsibility reasons, almost everything he does is purely an attempt to impress Tony Stark. It feels very out of character for Spider-Man and doesn't make for a very well-written character. Although I will say, Tom Holland is probably the best and most accurate Spider-Man to date, and the Vulture is a pretty decent villain. Expand

It's very, very family friendly and seems like a live action version of the recent Disney Spider-Man cartoons. Story-wise... it brings utterly nothing new to the table... It's the same as all the rest of the Spider-Movies, even down to the now, prerequisite grand rescue of civilians in trouble. And lastly... No spidey senses!!! Really!! Muhammad Ali without his snappy banter... A tiger without it's stripes... Silver without shine... A very scandalous move on the writers part. Though all in all.. being a Spider-Man fan... First of all let me say that Tom Holland's portrayal of Peter Parker/Spidey has to be the most annoyingly ridiculous incarnation so far and in no way shape or form captures the comic character properly. I don't think thats entirely his faultFirst of all let me say that Tom Holland's portrayal of Peter Parker/Spidey has to be the most annoyingly ridiculous incarnation so far and in no way shape or form captures the comic character properly. I don't think thats entirely his fault as the dialogue and writing was full of mediocre attempts at forced cheesy humor and weighed this film down massively. Second, the PC SJW agenda was apparent in this from the start with the not so subtle in your face changes of many characters from Flash Thompson to Mary Jane to Herman Shultz as the Shocker. We get that hollywood wants change and diversity but to rewrite history for the sake of virtue signaling is pathetic and stupid. Thirdly, the way Vulture and Shocker are portrayed is complete and utter nonsense. They don't have nearly the same look as in the comics or animated series and the characters that play them didn't seem to fit either other than Logan Marshal Green as shocker 1 though they decided to kill him off immediately and replace him with the some other random actor. Keaton came off decent throughout the film but honestly his character was not menacing or threatening as many have made him out to be as vulture. While there were some decent action sequences strewn in, i cant help but think of this as a mediocre teeny millennial reimagining without much substance. I can say I even prefer the messy Spiderman 3 to this which is a shame. Expand

Tom Holland is very good here, and I really like the ark he goes through. However, the best part of this movie is Michael Keaton as the Vulture. His character was interesting and his performance was even better. The best scene in the movie by far is when they are talking in the car. That was the only scene in the movie where I felt something was at stake. Not a bad movie in any way, but I didn't love it like a lot of people did. Expand

Not to mention the complete reinvention of his classmates. A total bastardization of the character. Here's a good rule of thumb for the future. If you don't like the characters save your money and make something else. You're never going to improve on the original stories. The second thing is how boring and predictable everything is. There's not a single aspect of the story you can't call well before it happens. It's so heavily cliched as well and that really doesn't help improve things. All in all, It can be a rather boring movie to sit through.

Now the action scenes really weren't all that good. They came off as all flash and no substance. It may appeal to kids who like all the bright colors but to adults, There's no real entertainment here. It's a lot of the same recycled material from past Spider Man films (the fluid combat featured in Amazing Spider Man and the rawness of it featured in the original Spider Man film). The lack of originality definitely takes it's toll.

Now as for the cast, They did an amazing job. Michael Keaton is simply fantastic as the villain and having him opposite of Tom Holland was a great match. You have this highly experienced actor playing this matured villain going against a much younger actor playing a hero who is still learning to be a hero. It makes for some great chemistry when they are on screen. And the rest of the supporting cast does wonders and really has their moments to shine.

All in all, I still view it as a deeply flawed film. It's above the garbage that was Spider Man 3 and Amazing Spider Man 2 but it still doesn't come close to touching the rest of the films.

As most Marvel flicks the pacing is very good. And it´s family friendly.
It doesn´t give us any of that promised new stuff. We have seen Spiderman do all these things already, and way better. Tom Holland is a very good and cute young Spiderman (he is no Andrew Garfield as an actor though). He delivered. Michael Keaton is excelent as the villain, true quality seasoned actor. The execution is good. And there are a couple of really tense situations in the film that are worth it.
However, there are many cons: I´m definitely not into such a young Spiderman. He looks so small when he´s in his suit. The suit is worse than the one in The Amazing Spiderman. The fact that Spiderman is almost a product of Iron man is a joke. I´m sorry but that´s a total change for the character. It just isn´t Spiderman. During many parts of the film, the action scenes in the dark were confusing. Something that didn´t happen in the many night scenes in the two Amazing Spiderman films with Andrew Garfield. Marvel has done some kind of light comedy as they always do. In general it works as a well connected piece of entertainment. But it doesn´t go beyond that. The emotional connection is not there. The previous Spiderman films were way more involving and emotive.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you aren't tired of watching Spiderman movies by now, you're probably a hardcore Spiderman fan.For the rest of us, the question is "What does this Spiderman movie have to offer that others don't to make it worth watching?" and to be perfectly honest unless the answer is Tony Stark I'm not really sure what else, and that's only if you're a big Iron-Man/RDJ fan. For me, Tony Stark looms over and takes the spotlight from way too many scenes in this film, to the point it hardly feels like the focus is really on Spiderman. At least many of the other MCU origin movies got some room to develop the character and breathe before uniting with the other Avengers, and as far as this film goes you can't even really call it an origin story, as Spider-man's powers are never actually explained. As tiresome as it is to sit through the whole spiel again and again about how Peter Parker becomes the Spider-man, this film does the exact opposite and never once mentions how it happened, which makes the whole spider theme feel very forced and the hero rather unbelievable. Maybe just a quick reminiscence or flashback or just verbal explanation could've sufficed. All-in-all, this film starts out enjoyable enough to watch. It's nice to see a Marvel movie in a suburban setting for once, making it feel more real for those of us who don't live in the big cities, or outer space, that most of the others take place in. The common "plodding 2nd act" is a big problem with this film. There's a definite slow point where you might as well pee and refill snacks, as it fails to remain engaging for about 20 minutes or so of the film. However, the final act makes up for it in a big way, as I feel it is truly the strong point of this film, showing us who these characters really are and what they are willing to do. On the other hand, the overall conflict seems a bit meaningless and low-stakes (stop bad guys from stealing stuff and selling illegal weapons). Yeah yeah, been there done that. There are some coming-of-age depictions of high school life that are poignant though, and a growing revelation that will be relatable for some viewers about a young man who is missing out on some of the greatest moments and memories of childhood in his quest to grow up too fast.

The visuals are pretty great, especially in the last act of the film. Overall, I wouldn't say this film is terribly memorable, but I feel like this would be a really fun film to watch as a teenager. For everyone else, it's probably about what you expect.

Welcome home Spidey.

Sam Raimi and Marc Webb have been the only ones favored in adapting the comics of the amazing Spider-Man to live-action movies, one with more notoriety than the other, but, after all, both managed to be entertaining proposals with their dissimilar varieties. Anyhow, the successes didn't last long, causing the retention of Sony's projects to keep on making popcorn movies. Such time of rehab had an expiration date, exactly, until 2015, the year in which the film studio announced, with presumption, the deal with Stan Lee's production studio for bringing back the carefree hero from Queens, something that amazed both fans and Marvel Studios logical chronology as to the introduction of new characters, who will soon be present in the magnanimous American epopee par excellence, at least we hope that. The first step, Holland signing up, then Watts, later an extravagant number of screenwriters, Keaton as an antagonist, Michael Giacchino usual adding and the predisposed tools by the studio allowed the coming of the first great adventure of Spidey. And we're in luck, since its director takes the overblown mold of summer film away, in order to manufacture a coming-of-age movie portraying the day by day of one of the most well-liked and beloved superheroes of the MCU in a fascinating way.

The script doesn't endure the consequences of the American trend focused on saturating plot construction of screenwriters, here, idea assortment works wonderfully, endowing this origin story with a brand-new, flippant, jovial and even original air; a "Deadpool" for teens. The base argument benefits by omitting info that should already be general culture for any connoisseur of the character, besides the succession of situations as funny as suggestive that will keep you on the edge of your seat, either by struggles or chases, jokes or dramas or, specifically, certain twists that lead to an enthusiastic and novice thriller atmosphere of thriller throughout the third act. The artistic performance of the sequences is on target, not as mega-maniac and grandiloquent as previous studio movies, however, "Homecoming" doesn't appeal to big things, it's a unique and necessary film among so much formality, politics, and honor driven by Captain America and Tony Stark. For the most avid and purist comic-lovers, the change of appearances, both physical and cultural, of some characters could be fateful, a modernization used in order to tie in with the strong egalitarian movement that becomes meaningful in the film world. Zendaya, Laura Harrier or Jacob Batalon provide the best of their characters, even so, they're not a copy of the original characters, With what they will be blessed, both fanatics and spectators, is fidelity to the circumstances of books, each scene is loaded with references and easter-eggs from Marvel's movies and comics, sublime and drama ones as the catharsis final when Peter is trapped under the rubble. These moments accompanied by vigorous and authentic treatment of the main character. When a movie opens by putting in front the villain and not the hero, denotes the commitment of the studio conceiving Keaton's role, creating the most human and realistic villain of its universe, of course along with his stunning performance. Although his first sightings don't enjoy a strong impact, from the middle of the second act, the actor breaks down the screen, in detail, in the final twist.

Visually, "Homecoming" has highlighted points in scenes where tension components prevail, such as that sonorous attenuation when he enters in the prom, the inconvenience in the Washington monument or the boat's breakdown. Accepting indie roots of the director, serene nuance would be obvious, so it's not possible to expect artistic displays at the heights of "Doctor Strange", even the visual dullness of the previous installments by Sony. Likewise, we witness that Giacchino's score doesn't stand out at all, of course, leaving aside the classic and glorious Spider Man theme song in the opening, glorifying the logo of the studio. It's noticeable the most measured pace in action sequences with respect to its competitors, however, CGI cessation, protagonist's gymnastic talent, and grateful set pieces are what makes the movie so special.

Watts rejoins our beloved Spidey into the cinematic panorama, with the help of a motion picture that enjoys the delights of independent and commercial movie simultaneously, delivering magnetic entertainment, placing Marvel's film far above that fabulous film by Sam Raimi and Alfred Molina. Carefree, hilarious and intriguing, Holland's Spider- Man takes very seriously what he is doing, delivering one of the most loyal films to comics, still being spectacular and fun. Sony already has a vast idea catalog for the Spider - Man universe, hopefully, it won't happen again with their plans what occurred a few years ago. Blessed Marvel!

Anyway, this is a teen movie at its core, but the story is pretty bad and has plenty of annoying teeny moments. Tom Holland is convincing enough in the role of Peter Parker. Michael Keaton makes for a very interesting villain in the role of Adrian Toomes aka the Vulture, it's refreshing to see a lesser known Spider-Man villain other than Doctor Octopus or the Green Goblin. Robert Downey Jr. in the role of Tony Stark/Iron Man acts as Spider-Man's mentor and saves him twice. But the final fight is a big mess. Watts has a great team, Holland, in the film, does not, he swings out as a hero without the "the one" clause.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

Watts is in safe hands and the franchise in his. Most probably because he has more than five writers contributing majorly on developing a light hearted durable version of our friendly neighbor, that has lately been changing. With these many comic writers, that are mostly averted from their sitcom works for this huge banner film that has actually seen fame through this very character back in 2002, John Watts is simply following the rule, to a degree that his world that revolves around teenagers couldn't even be bratty properly, what a shame.

Revisiting one of the most successful superhero in the box office may not be a good idea, but somehow those filters that bars the imagination of the makers also makes them bulletproof. The history won't repeat itself, and Kevin Feige who has previously worked in the original Tobey Maguire trilogy, clears out all the speculations we have had of this character over the ages. Just freeing those limitations itself helps flow the narration with a quick pace and before you know it, you are having a serious talk with Aunt May played with an hip and happening attitude by Marisa Tomei.

But there is no point involving supporting characters in here, for even the writers never glances twice at them, and this is where the film stands alone in this franchise. Even for a brief period, each of the chapter in MCU feels obliged to include the supporting characters in narration but here, Peter Parker is the target and.. bullseye. For a film of more than two hours, Tom Holland runs on merit and pulls off an entire film on his shoulders, with a compelling performance that shifts according to the tone or maybe he himself controls the tone, after a major fiasco NYC's heartthrob returns home in this Homecoming.

Tom Holland does an Okay job as Spiderman and Peter Parker, (Though I prefer Tobey Maguire's portrayal more) it has SOME Funny jokes, and it has one of the MCU's best new villains. but thenot one of the best MCU Trilogy Starters IMO. Bad story with good ideas, the rythm is wrong in the movie. It is not epic but it's still a good moment. Average.

Ficou abaixo do que eu esperava, não senti neste, aquela vibe Marvel. Talvez o dedo da Sony tenha interferido de alguma maneira.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I didn't like this film as much as previous Spiderman films. I think I felt it was too Marvel universe oriented. I don't follow the whole superhero universe side of things but this film felt more trivial and perhaps full of injokes and things which I didnt/couldn't entirely appreciate. I definitely remember enjoying the previous 'The Amazing Spiderman' films with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire but this felt different.

There are undoubtedly some slick action scenes with good uses of CGI but it just didn't especially appeal to me, its an ok watch with a good cast (Robert Downey Jr and Michael Keaton to name a couple) but I can't say it kept me gripped to the screen. I suppose its because im not interested enough to follow the whole universe of various different superhero characters, so the info. about the stages different ones are at doesn't especially interest me or mean much but I imagine that big fans of Spiderman and those keen on Marvel superhero films will likely enjoy it.

Only good thing about the movie was the villian, too much didn't make sense and the race bollocks is an eyesore as always.

I've never been a fan of this one, the action is muted, and it's a surprisingly boring movie, as botha Spider-man and MCU fan, I feel like it could have been so much better.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There is no real progression development of Spidermans character in the movie, he also sucks as Spiderman, and puts way to many people in danger destroying everything he touches. The classic Spiderman is 100 times better than this movie. The movie lacks real action, they also try way to hard to make comedy sections. Expand

Spider-Man: Homecoming has its moments, but for the most part Tom Holland feels overshadowed in his own movie by Robert Downey Jr. and a lack of meaningful character interactions.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wrong use of the character. Tony Stark is so prominent in this movie that it gets to the point where this really looks like the story of Iron Boy Jr., taking away a lot from a beloved character. Plot is really forced, supporting cast doesn't help. Everyone praised Vulture but I felt like he was just there. Expand

So many things in this movie are forgettable. I don’t remember a single interesting thing about anything in this movie.

On the plus side, it is inoffensive. Probably an easy way to kill time if you’re with a child.

The peak of it all was the 2nd episode, for me. After that, it was kind of disappointing, but still better than the atrocity that the Amazing Spider-Man was. The story is flat, most characters are flat, especially the villain, Holland's performance is good but nothing spectacular, loved his dynamics with Robert Downey Jr. though. After all, it's good for once, watch it if you are completely abandoned of ideas, it won't hurt. Expand
