Fox's performance is a shadow of his "Future" self, and the rest of the cast -- everyone from teeny-boppers to wise guys to baffled adults -- are equally benumbed. You really can't blame them, what with a screenplay by Joseph Loeb III and Matthew Weisman that relies on "losing control of his bodily functions" for its biggest laugh. [24 Aug 1985, p.C6]
The formulae of gal-next-door and big game are followed so slavishly that it's hard to laugh at Teen Wolf even on the rare moments when it is original. The script and the direction are simply too lazy, too contemptuous even of adolescent audiences. [24 Aug 1985, p.C5]

The soundtrack was good, coach Finstock was funny, Stile's shirts were cool. The fat shaming and homophobia an unfortunate product of the era.
The basketball and wolf stuff is so funny/bizarre and its handled like its not actually weird at all.

Okay teen turning into a werewolf, okay fine but turning into a werewolf to play basketball? WHAT THE HECK? I never liked Teen Wolf and I don't know why anyone wanted this to be a movie.
