The real magic of “School” resides in its stars. Caruso loses Sophie’s moral direction in deliciously fun yet behaviorally alarming ways. Wylie finds Aggie’s righteousness without damaging the character’s cunning intellect; a scene involving “wish fish” has no business being as moving as Wylie makes it. Together, the young actors take this project beyond good and evil, into the realm of something real. Read full review

Sure, it’s a “Harry Potter” rip-off, but had Feig taken the time to let the film breathe, it might have stood on its own. Unlike Hogwarts, where fresh surprises lay waiting around every corner, this school seems to exist in concept only — and not a particularly good one at that. Read full review

Special effects, cinematography, casting, storyline and overall quality of the film were excellent. From watching the trailer, I knew it would be a good movie but after watching, my expectations were surpassed. Hopefully, there will be a sequel.

I had no low expectations of this movie. I just can't wait for the second based of the movie cliffhanger.… Expand

Entertaining, 'Harry Potter rip off' is based on a successful series of books. Some of the digital effects felt off, especially in the opening sequence, but it gets better as it goes along. What an... Eesh movie. That's all there is to it. It's not great, nor is it the scorn of the earth. My Mother and I watched it the other day, and we could both say it's an iffy movie. I'm struggling to figure out how anybody is rating this film positively, and multiple 10s no less. Bizzare. The film is predictable and bland with mediocre acting at best. Trashy is how I would explain it in a single word, but not even the kind of trashy that can hold your attention.
