'Cobra Kai'

Netflix

Decades after Mr. Miyagi taught Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) the art of discipline when it comes to karate, he has to channel those teachings for a new fight. Season 5 of Cobra Kai will see Daniel trying to take down Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffiths), who is in control of the titular dojo and looking to expand it all across the valley.

In a trailer for the new season, which premieres Sept. 9 on Netflix, Daniel says everyone just sees Terry as "a philanthropist trying to save the kids of the valley." But he knows better. Terry has a "no mercy" style of karate, and he wants that to be the only way, and he's "thinking a lot bigger than just the valley."

Meanwhile, Johnny (William Zabka), who denounced Cobra Kai and being a sensei after losing the last karate tournament, heads out of California, to Mexico, to try to find Miguel (Xolo Maridueña), and John Kreese (Martin Kove) is in jail. This all means Daniel think it's all on him to fix things, but course it doesn't take long for Johnny to get back in the game, too.

The show, which is based on the 1980s Karate Kid film franchise, also stars Courtney Henggeler, Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Decenzo, Vanessa Rubio, and Peyton List. Sean Kanan guest stars as Mike Barnes, reprising his role from the film franchise. Creators and showrunners Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg serve as executive producers alongside Macchio, Zabka, Will Smith, James Lassiter, Caleeb Pinkett, and Susan Ekins. The show hails from Sony Pictures Television and currently has a 70 Metascore.
