Louis Nye

Biography: Louis Nye began his career in the theater and after the World War II he ventured into radio. Deciding he would rather do comedy than drama, he performed his stand-up routine in New York City. Receiving good notices he wound up on The Tonight Show hosted by Steve Allen who had a difficult time holding back his laughter with Louis' gags and ad-libs. Louis became a regular and as one of his many characters, Gordon Hathaway he coined the catch phrase "Heigh-ho Steveorino!" He appeared on numerous television shows and spent one season on The Beverly Hillbillies as Sonny Drysdale. His first motion picture was the schlocky 1960 film Sex Kittens Go to College with Mamie Van Doren and Tuesday Weld. Always good for a laugh this funny was legendary on the talk show circuit.
