Robby Benson
Biography: As an adult, former juvenile actor Robby Benson was unable to achieve the popularity he knew when he was young and so became a filmmaker instead. Born Robert Segal, the son of playwright Jerry Segal and actress Ann Benson, he began his acting career at age five. He debuted onscreen at age 15 in Jory (1972), going on to a series of film roles in which he tended to play sensitive juveniles. Of the three films he appeared in between 1986-90, he directed two, Crack in the Mirror (1985) and Modern Love (1990). He teaches filmmaking at the University of Southern California.
