Biography: The Jimi Hendrix Experience is best known for frontman Jimi Hendrix's guitar work. Known as one of the greatest rock bands ever, The Experience brought such hits as "Purple Haze", "Foxey Lady", "Fire", "Bold As Love", "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)", and "All Along the Watchtower".

Born in Seattle, Jimi Hendrix moved to England with his manager Chas Chandler to find the rest of his band members. He eventually picked Noel Redding, who was trying out for guitar, but ended up on bass because Hendrix liked his look and attitude, despite the fact that he had never played bass before. On drums was Mitch Mitchell. Over the years, The Experience gained much success, mainly in the United Kingdom. They later became known as Gypsy Sun and Rainbows, replacing Noel Redding with Billy Cox and adding four other new members. They headlined Woodstock, playing half a day late due to hold-ups.
