Victor Kilian

Biography: Kilian was a tall, heavyset, mustachioed character actor. After working in vaudeville, stock, and on Broadway, he debuted onscreen in 1929, appearing in more than 150 films through the early '50s; he often played angry, leathery villains and earthy, jaundiced "common men." After retiring from the screen he spent a decade-plus headlining in a number of Broadway plays. He came out of retirement in the late '70s to play the quirky grandfather known as the Fernwood Flasher in the TV comedy soap opera Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. In 1979 he was murdered by intruders in his home.
