Banksy Does New York doesn’t give more than a passing voice to Banky’s critics and skeptics. (If anything, it’s more harsh to the New York art world for largely ignoring the residency.) But the film does a fine job of getting at the tension that each day’s new piece inspired.
The thrill of the chase comes through in the film.
This new documentary on the British artist Banksy doesn’t pretend to tell us whether he’s a great conceptual artist or a great scam artist.
The documentary has its flaws: the flashiness of the editing, an overly insistent score, the sheer annoyingness of many of the talking heads.
