Beastars is a refreshing change-up to more predictable and familiar anime series; it’s also one of the year’s best that will be hard to top from here on out.
Beastars compellingly tangles some of the mundanities of human high school life (Oh no! Drama in drama club!) with some weird world-building within an anthropomorphic reality.
After all these years and after Aggretsuko we have absolutely found a school anime that actually has talking anthropomorphic animals and that is Beastars.
Most of every single anime has a high school setting which most clichéd part of anime however in my whole life I have never seen a high school anime that is absolutely focused on anthropomorphic animals rather than just anime humans.
Beastars is absolutely an amazing anime that I never seen before. Just like Zootopia it almost tackles prey and predator society just like Zootopia but absolutely adds more of a darker tone with some violence, a bit of cannibalism references, and a bit of sexual content just like the first season and second episode of Beastars.I loved the character designs in the show and characters like Legoshi, Haru, Juno, and Louis got my attention into watching the show. Especially other characters like Jack, Pina, Cosmo, Bill, and many more others in the show.
And speaking Legoshi and Haru it almost felt like it reminded me of Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps aside from other duos like Mr. Wolf and Diane Foxington from The Bad Guys, Shirous and Michiru from BNA, and Retsuko and Haida from Aggretsuko.
High school anime is absolutely the most cliche part of the story but you can never go wrong with watching a high school anime with anthropomorphic animals.
Amazing anime! Legoshi without doubt is the best character! The anime represents the manga in a good way. The first season was so good and the second season is being fabulous.
I really enjoyed the series. It represents the manga in a great way, it has a beautiful art style and a great and heartwarming story. What I often don't like about other shows is that when they use animal characters they often don't interest the fact that they are animals at all (or at least not in a great way). They integrated it perfectly here and you feel that they put a lot of work into the series.
At first I didn't know what to think of the show. After watching all 12 Episodes in Season 1 I can safely call "Beastars" one of my favorite shows. It's characters, environments, and story are extremely engaging and create an experience like no other. I not an anime fan but "Beastars" is an exception, and to those who are on the fence of if you should watch it or not, I strongly recommend you do. You won't be disappointed.
I watched this show after a few people recommended it. In all honesty, I don't believe it lived up to the hype. With no structured plot, no consistency, numerous unexplainable events, and a questionable underlying message, I am left to believe that this series will eventually collapse upon itself. With that being said, this series has great potential and can likely succeed if the correct approaches are utilized. Granted, I have not read the manga (after being exposed to a portion of this series in animated form, quite frankly, I have no desire to do so), and it seems successful on its own. Assuming further chapters of the manga will be animated, I remain hopeful that the anime will rebound and deliver in the best possible way.
