Top Cast
It’s all very disturbing and creepy. It’s also not new.... The A&E special might therefore be viewed partly as an attempt to get ratings by recycling already-heard allegations. On the other hand, there’s also a sense in which we cannot hear these dreadful tales enough, so that the memory of them can live on in people other than the victims.
The one-hour production slowly builds a compelling case, as the women lay out details of what they say happened, without being flanked by attorney Gloria Allred or a bank of microphones.
[Cosby: The Women Speak] doesn’t put forth any accusations we haven’t heard before. What it does is add dimension, because seeing the faces of the women Cosby allegedly drugged and raped drives home the point that this isn’t a horror movie, but a series of real-life events that changed lives and forced women to live with shame and secrets.
