Awesome and funny! The cast is strong. ! The show world has sometimes its own set of rules (especially about gunshot wounds) but it’s the best antidepressant!
The show relies heavily on the strength of those three principals, and it has chosen wisely in Hendricks, Whitman, and Retta. ... Because Good Girls also operates like a character-driven family drama, the more tension-building aspects of the plot sometimes feels like they’re coming at you too fast.
The resulting frying-pan-and-fire story line forces the three leads to confront how serious they are about being criminals. The problem, as enjoyable as Good Girls often is, is that it seems unsure how serious it is about being a crime story.
As is, it’s more of a dark comedy that can’t be dark enough to earn the drama or sharp enough to work as a comedy. It tries to be everything, but moves too quickly between genres to fit into a 44-minute cut.
The show’s success owes primarily to the performances by the lead actors, who are so appealing that you might not remember they are actually committing crimes including theft, kidnapping, blackmail and transporting contraband across international borders. And that’s just in the first three episodes.
Good Girls is somewhat like the show Weeds, but with half as much charisma and far less believability. Honestly, this trio would have been caught after the very first episode given the fact that there were many witnesses and they're a distinctive and recognizable group of women (not much of a spoiler given the show summary on Metacritic).
For a much better rendition (the original?) of the whole "suburban mother, struggling financially, turns to crime - and the ensuing drama and intrigue", just watch Weeds. The story arc and character development is so much better than Good Girls, though I think that show went on for too many seasons. All of that aside, I'm a fan of these actresses and found the first two seasons of Good Girls to be entertaining and fun. I'll definitely be watching the third season when it premieres in February.
The writing was bad, interesting concept but could have made the girls a bit smarter. Also, illegal search and seizure is a thing and the writers clearly don't know a thing about the law. Agents breaking into houses and using what they find is and will be illegal. Poor writing, good cast but really not impressed.
Wow this ****. The dialogue and acting is garbage lmao
How could anyone think this show was good? I could barely even watch a full episode. This show suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccccccckkkksssssssssssssssssss I could write an actual review where I analyze and critique this but thats too much effort. I dont know why but im angry that this show exists. This is the smallest amount of effort I have seen put into something in a long while. There’s absolutely nothing special about this show and absolutely no reason to watch it. Now gotta fill space so I can actually post this. Thats how little I care about this review.
