For now, the show is about two people—one an idealistic newcomer, the other a practical veteran—debating, while fighting off bad guys, whether they should work to live or live to work. That’s a delightfully human (and pertinent) question to explore, and its answer thus far is deeply human as well.
Marvel's latest Disney Plus series is a fun, free-wheeling action show energized by scene-stealing Hailee Steinfeld, who joins grouchy archer Jeremy Renner for some good, honest comfort viewing.
When it focuses on its leads, it has the potential to be a relatively diverting, if airless, chapter of the Marvel universe — one unfettered thus far by the weight of Phase Four’s multiverse mishegas.
Overall Hawkeye’s not bad, or boring, it’s just… fine. It’s totally fine. Some people will like it, others might not, but it’s hard to see it arousing a great deal of passion either way.
First of all, it should be noted that Kate Bishop was cast phenomenally. She fits the role perfectly, is just like I imagined and there is a very good chemistry with Hawkeye. The two harmonize and also have the best moments in the series, but (not everything before that word ****) they can't push the series to very good heights.
Hawkeye just lacks the WOW effect. It's just a solid average that you like to finish but probably forgot the next day. In terms of quality, the series is miles away from Loki and Wandavision in particular. There were too many scenes or episodes that just splashed around and were just not interesting. The tracksuits were hardly funny or boring either. Even if there was more to it, which also makes the last two episodes very good and interesting, that was not enough. If it hadn't been for the last two episodes, the rating would have dropped even further.
So there are 6/10 arrows.
The Kate Bishop Show might be the worst thing Marvel has ever released. This show was branded & advertised to fans as a series about Hawkeye (one of the most underdeveloped characters in the MCU), but in reality it is a series about Kate Bishop that occasionally features Hawkeye. Rather than droning on & on about everything wrong with this series, I’m just going to sum it up. IT’S BORING! I barely made it through the first episode and at multiple points I started asking myself why I was still watching it. Rather than an action series about one of our favorite Avengers, we got a family drama occasionally featuring said Avenger along with Black Widow’s sister. Nobody asked for this!
