Murder has no basis in the reality of the legal system, and just like Scandal, there are probably two too many characters to have to care about. But it manages to continuously elevate the dramatic stakes and navigate the ever-evolving relationships of its principals while rarely allowing itself to become narratively untethered.
This was for the premiere episode. Brilliantly directed, glamorously performed, and with one hell of twists, The premiere episode of Season 2 kicks off stupendously...Hope this keeps up throughout the season
The show has greatly improved over the first season, as far as the performance of the secondary actors the soundtrack, Viola is still fantastic, they managed to tie up several loose ends and the final episodes were very good, but the series still suffers because of its conveniences, some weekly cases are solved simply.
The comeback of HTGAWM was amazing! The serie comes adapting and talking with real problems and reality: sexuality, marriage problems, DSTs and, obviously, murders and criminal law. The serie stayed more real and this is very good, because talk the people who watch. And not could pass this: Viola Davis continues marvelous! The brazilian law students and criminal law lovers are on fire with that season!
The first season was fantastic! Viola Davis deserved to win the Emmy.
The second season however has turned into somewhat of a disappointment.
While Davis’ character is still outstanding, I personally am tired of some of the supporting cast; especially the young female attorney who had been scheduled to marry the rich boyfriend. She’s turned into a boring nag.
As for Frank, I think he moonlights for the mob.
I don’t understand the need for the blond skinny assistant to Annalise. She adds nothing to the show, except for being a bed mate to one of the students (The son of the judge).
What the show needs to do, in my opinion, is ‘thin the herd’ when it comes to the supporting cast.
I watched the first season and while I struggled with some of the characters' actions the show was well written and acted. I was looking forward to the second season. However, after tuning in, I don't care. The characters aren't interesting enough to to continue to watch. For so many seemingly intelligent people, there is a lot of sitting, waiting, and nothing. Given the personalities on display, or the lack thereof in some of the characters, I truly don't care what happens to them next.
6 episodes into the second season, the sophomore slump is very much there. The show turned into a weird mixture of a snorefest (the entire Hapstall case and the interpersonal relations that would make any Univision daytime soaps blush) and a bizarro social justice crusade presentation by Shonda Rhimes. The copious amounts of sex that adds nothing to the plot in her oh-look-at-me-I'm-such-a-forward-thinking-showrunner-aren't-I-the-best attempt is the most ridiculous.
