It’s pretty refreshing to dip back into its decidedly weird, singular waters, where a person like the one above doesn’t throw our quartet of horror side hustlers. ... Please, see this show.

It always finds its way back to the comedic core when it needs to. It is here where the creativity really takes hold of you and catches you off guard with each new joke. If you were looking for a worthy successor to the strong first season, always a fraught prospect, then it is hard to think of a show that is more outstanding than Los Espookys.

Fans will find the wait is well worth it; these new episodes demonstrate that creators Torres, Ana Fabrega, and Fred Armisen’s writing has become even more focused. Also improved? The group’s ability to find that final turn of the screw that takes a joke one step past its expected punchline. ... With its idiosyncratic comedic voice and unforgettably gonzo visuals, Los Espookys is exactly the kind of series one would hope to see more of in a content-rich streaming environment.
