I hope the people in charge read this. Good shows need TRULY loyal fans. Do you get married after the first date? No, For The kind of fans that can knock this one out of the park, you need to give the fans a chance to fall in love with the show and its characters. You got a winner here. You just need to promote it right and to allow the fans to fall in love with the show. Come on, Look at history. the show CHEERS was almost cancelled after each of its first two seasons. Then on season three the ratings start going up. By the 4th it was a hit. "Those who do not learn from history's mistakes are destined to repeat them".
Though Minority Report starts with a network-note heavy pilot, the show picks up speed and launches into a compelling narrative full of interesting characters. The world building of the year 2065 is fantastic, balancing the history that is now, the rules of the film, and predictions of our own future based on data and trends. Lead, Detective Vega (Meagan Good) starts off guarded because of her back story, but as the episodes progress you see her gradually open up and let people past her protective shell. The show is rich with subtext and the writing is layered. I think, once you get past the pilot, they made the right choices with nearly every aspect of their story telling. It's worth sticking with and watching all the episodes.
Minority Report's reverence for the material that inspired it undermines its own attempts to explore and build on the environments and sensibilities it labors so intensely to recreate.
The show itself, while existing in a sleek future of advanced technology, is a bit clunky. It hews to the most obvious tropes of case-of-the-week shows about oddball visionaries partnered with law-and-order sharpshooters, and in the first hour at least, doesn’t pay its audience much respect when it comes to the plausibility of dialogue, character motivations, or the security procedures at a mental institution for former future-convicts.
Alternately bad and laughably bad, Minority Report is one of the few new fall shows that can probably be fairly judged on the basis of its pilot alone: There are so many things working against it, it’s hard to imagine how the show could be better, even if Fox had sent out more than just its first episode to critics.
The pilot have been good for all the episode I have watch so far. The casting member that been pick to play the roles in this show I think are great choices. I think it all around a great show so hopeful it will be a season two in the future.
I was dubious of this show because of the concept and the ripped from a movie nature of the story. I didn't think it would work. However, I found the pilot more enjoyable than the second season premier of "Gotham," and a bit of a pleasant surprise. Will it be a great show? No. But it might be a watchable show.
"Minority Report" was a fantastic film/movie and I was really excited to see its TV adaptation, but gahd how disappointing! Maybe if a top production team from HBO or FX did it, it'd be much better, but network TV never fails to once again fumble a promising property. And welcome to post-LOST TV where new shows - Minority Report, Limitless, Blindspot - hide a series-long mystery that they slow-drip you through with each episode with maybe a minor payoff in each season finale. I find myself FF'ing through most eps till the final scene where they throw a bone of a clue to the underlying mystery, saves me a lot of unnecessary watch time. I'm just not convinced I want to follow shows this way long term.
Don't the people who make this watch it before it airs. Same with the people who buy it. I don't know how to describe bad but I know when I see it and I saw a lot of it in episode 1.
Minority Report is a ok show but defintely does not deserve a 3 after seeing the commercials i thought this show could deserve a perfect 7 or 8 but after 2 episodes i got compeltely lost and confused on where this show goes.
