The value of The Bad Batch as a series really lies in how it illuminates the era the story takes place in on the Star Wars canon timeline. The mission-to-mission arcs, meanwhile, are fun, although at times a little repetitive. But the animation and production quality are once again top-notch, and The Bad Batch Season 2 is a great way to kick off 2023 for Star Wars fans.
As with almost any series, there are highs and lows—but Omega manages to hold things together with her drive to do right by everyone she meets, whether they’re a friend or foe or someone somewhere in between. Redemption, transformation, and metamorphosis play a large part in the latter half of the season, which, in its own way, redeems the series as a whole.
Filoni and company are clearly capable of enriching concepts and characters that have been part of our popular culture for 45 years. But at its best, The Bad Batch’s second season is a frustrating reinforcement of the previous season’s problems.
