The joy of this series lies entirely in the singers, and it really doesn't much matter who they are. ... It's a tightly paced hour in which the main joys are the good and bad voices, the costumes and the reactions of the judges and the in-studio audience.
The body horror is agreeable. The singing is real. Some of it is excellent (an unspecified number of competitors are professionally trained); mostly, it is fine. The creatures compete against each other in pairs. ... Cultivating the cutesy creepiness dulls any sense of unease.
When I saw this had a 3.8 user score my mouth dropped. Yes, there are furries which I don't like either but HOT DAMN I love this TV show. Funny moments and waiting in suspense seeing who it is is amazing.
I love this show, however if the judges don't start dressing a little more conservative, I won't be watching it next season. Come on people, do you really want your children watching all those boobs hanging out. The no shirt look, by the guys, isn't great either.
What is a given is the surprise element. The costumes are quite elaborate and they, alone, would be worth an episode. ... Ken Jeong seems like the wild card, since no one has associated him with music. (At least Jenny McCarthy’s husband is one of the New Kids on the Block.) He tries to be funny but, often, it’s Scherzinger’s surprised looks that get the laughs.
Whether it’s a reaction to the curated snobbery of prestige television or simply a new low in reality programming and its worship of B-list talent, The Masked Singer kicks off 2019 with such low expectations that everything else--“CSI” reruns, pharmaceutical ads---looks like sophisticated high art in its wake. ... The show’s panelists are the most entertaining aspect of the bizarre spectacle when they shoot high in gradings on the celebrity scale when estimating who’s under the rack of antlers or giant insect head.
Was not a fan of the show, and now that Rudy Giuliani is a celebrity masked singer, with Robin Thicke and Ken Jeong walking off (right thing to do!) will not be watching, unless a repeat of one of Trump’s speeches!
The fact that people watch this is astounding. Even worse, people try to critique it. It is not substantial enough to warrant discussion. Its so rediculous that its sub-substance. Its like trying to critique a pair of molecules, or a beam of light at noon. Theoretically its there. We can somewhat observe it, but its so impotent and void of consequence. Therefore Im forced to mark it a zero. And yet a 150, a 766.2 because I lack the ability to actually describe it. The only reason I know it exists is because there must be someone creating it. The TV shows me images of it. It nips at the margins of my soul, as a radioactive particle, invisible to my eye, may corrupt the very building blocks of my body. Its less than nothing and cant be described. At least not by me. Perhaps science can help, perhaps the show will, much like an ionizing particle, fold itself into the fabric of the universe, dormant, until the day it will collide with someone elses brain.
I LOVED this show at **** I can not stand it.There is one person who ruined this show for me .No, its not Ken.While he can go overboard he is not the issue for me. I love Nicole, I love Robin, I like Ken. Jenny has ruined the show for me.I was tolerant of her for the few seasons. The 5th season was my last. Where should I begin? Her NOT knowing her husband was the rooster Clucka Doodle Doo,falling off her chair and the HUGE OBNOXIOUS blonde wig was the last show I could handle. What exactly is her talent? Ken is an actor, Robin is a singer,Nicole is a singer and actor.Jenny's is what, exactly? She is not funny, in the least she is not an actor so what is her talent? Her HUGE chest which looks like it is going to pop out of whatever monstrosity she squeezes into? She doesn't have a personality, if that were her talent alone, I could put my cat on tv. At least he is entertaining to watch. Sorry Masked Singer. Like Dancing with the Stars( I stopped watching that YEARS ago!) you lost me as a viewer. IF this show ( which was a great premise at first!) makes it another few seasons, I will be surprised.
