Season 1 Review: The series, based on the book of the same name by Daniel Kraus and del Toro, is well written, although it relies on stock character situations such as the young hero standing up to the school bully; the awkward, overweight sidekick learning that he is more capable than he thinks he is; and the popular high school girl becoming friendly with a kid from a lower social stratum. Season 1 Review: Trollhunters has a nice vibe to it. There is an ’80s “Goonies” flair, but it is also has intelligence and flashes of wit, such as when a creature hums “In the Hall of the Mountain King” by Edvard Grieg as it goes in for a kill, or when Toby finds out Juliet dies in “Romeo and Juliet.” Otherwise Trollhunters follows the formula for these sorts of stories, uncomfortable teen by day and superhero at night. Absolute masterpiece. Watched this show a couple years back and just have to give it the credit it deserves as it was, and probably still is my favourite 3D cartoon of all time. The actual animation is fine, I guess but the real thing that makes it so good is the story. Some people may sayAbsolute masterpiece. Some people may say some characters are poorly written (which is true) but the story hooked me like nothing had hooked me before. Even the filler episodes feel important and if you get past season 1 you get emotionally hooked to the characters so much like nothing I had felt before. Sure, I may just remember the good things about the show, but Trollhunters makes up for its annoying cliches with brilliant momants. Would reccomend to anyone who is into stuff like fantasy etc. If only the spin-offs were as good as this masterpiece -_-… Expand

I hate hate hated this show. It is one of the worst shows I've ever seen. Jim is a Gary Stu and can do nothing wrong so why would I care for this story? It's poorly written and cliched. "It's made by Del Toro" is the most defense I hear from people who like this show.
