Dementium Remastered is a great addition to the eShop, and shows the higher polished side of things that are available on it. The game packs quite a punch in terms of presentation, and the gameplay is mostly there to match it. If you are a fan of horror games or FPS games, then this is a game that you should check out this holiday season.
The game’s central issue is that, frustratingly, the hallways and offices of the asylum all look the same, with not even a change in wallpaper color from one floor to the next. You can get turned around very easily, and one wonders how many closets one hospital needs.
I have to write this review since people are really picking it apart for the most obnoxious reason (Looking at you Jim Sterling).
Dementium Remastered is a great updated re-release on the 3ds of the original dementium. It was made back in 2007 on a much inferior hardware, so it may not be strikingly surprising to anyone used to the horror genre, and yet still as a budget portable title it works wonders.
Thanks to the circle pad, moving and aiming results in a much more comfortable experience(plays really good on a 2ds). The upgraded resolution and retouched textures bring up a lot of detail and it just feels nice to gaze upon (can´t talk about the 3d effect tho, so no lying).
The music is pretty much untouched, and using headphones is still greatly recomended.
If you have already played/own Dementium, there is very little new content here save a few retouches and easter eggs, but if you haven´t it is a very nice game in the vein of the old silent hill series. It won´t knock anyone out with it´s story (It´s not reinventing the wheel) but what it does, it does it in spades.
It is also around a 1000 blocks download, so it´s also a great option if you don´t have a lot of space left.
As someone who played the original on release, I really liked it. Thumbs up!
Dementium remastered is a decent horror experience for the 3DS.After playing the DS original I find this to be a better version of the **** better visuals make the experience more terrifying but also making the enemies look more silly since you can see all the details of the **** of my favorite changes was the better controls you can use the stylus to look around or use the XYAB buttons, but if you have a circle pad pro or a New 3DS then you can use that as **** music in the game might be lacking in some areas but the sound effects are pretty **** Heart beat sound affect can get annoying though, luckily you turn it **** game is about 5 hours long. There isn't much to do in terms of exploration, you will mostly be walking down linear **** game also isn't that scary I only jumped a few times and it was only because a enemy caught me off **** overall the game is good,I would wait until it's on sale unless you are really wanting it that badly.
It looks good and sounds creepy and unsettling and though Renegade Kid has tweaked the gameplay and systems to make it friendlier, Dementium Remastered is still a victim of some awkward controls, borderline bland level design and an overall feeling of repetition.
Dementium Remastered has all the technical qualities to be a good remake...except being an outstanding game. While the visual and audio environments are competent and well implemented, the game loses most of its appeal compared to the original and ends up as a generic title that brings nothing significant to the 3DS library.
If you're hoping for a story at all, you'll be disappointed. The opening just drops you right into a mental ward without much of any information, and barely anything gets revealed throughout the story. The ending was the rotten cherry on top that just screams directly into your face "find out what happens next in the sequel."...No thanks. Fuck that. That is two and a half hours of my life I'll never get back.
Being a fan of survival horror, I was a big fan of the original Dementium on the Nintendo DS. But it had a few annoying problem that this 3DS "Remaster" have thankfully worked out. Gone are the annoying and unrelenting enemy respawning, which makes this remake much more appealing. But don't be looking for a complete remake and overhaul of the graphics... the 3D is smooth and frame rate smoother, but there is not a noticeable difference outside of that. Still, highly recommended for fans of the franchise or for horror games.
Dementium on Nintendo DS was decent portable horror game. When Renegade announce a Dementium Remastered for the 3DS, I was psyche. After playing the game I realize, it's the same game I played back on DS with minor visual improvements. My biggest complaint our the graphics, even though, it looks better than the DS. The game looks like a old Nintendo 64 game. I was hoping Renegade Kid would give Dementium Remastered a complete makeover , something like Zelda Ocarina of time. The environment and monsters still have the old DS look to them. The sound is OK and the controls are similar to most first person shooters on the 3DS/DS. Overall the game is fun and the only true horror game on the 3DS. I would recommend it, if your looking to play a horror game on the 3DS. But sadly the old visuals ruin the game experience. Just like other other poor HD remakes on PS3/Xbox 360, this new upgraded version of Dementium is disappointing.
