KORG M01D is a great piece of music creation software, which, whilst not as robust as similar programs found on PCs, does what it sets out to do: provides a faithful emulation of KORG's popular 80s synthesiser. For those who are curious about music creation, this is probably one of the best ways to get started!
Rather than a game, KORG M01D is an exquisite musical composing tool that fits perfectly within the 3DS. Its price tag is yet another point in favour for a title that is set to captivate its target-audience. Nevertheless, it should be pointed out that M01D might still seem too intimidating for those with few skills in the field of music-making.
Korg M01D achieves what it sets out to, but its insistence on being so precise a simulation closes the door to regular users looking to have some fun. [Jan 2014, p.88]
There are more fully-featured music suites out there, but the M01D's versatility and the quality of sounds on offer more than make up for the feature gap.
As an application and a tool for creating music, KORG M01D does justice to the original product launched by KORG in the late eighties.
