Overall Casey Powell Lacrosse 16 is a game that offers a surprising amount of depth and replayability for an indie title. From the deep creation suite to the solid career mode, there is a quite a bit to do no matter how you want to play.
Enjoying this game a lot. Played career mode for a few seasons already and leveled my long stick man up to a bad ass.
My favorite thing to do is grab a beer and a couple of mates and play head to head on the couch, it's much fun!
Stick ball good.
Casey Powell Lacrosse 16 has finally brought us a decent lacrosse game. Visually the game is great and the features are satisfactory. Controls take time to get used to and the shooting could have been done better. Player running and speed bursts could have been done better as well. All camera angles are a awkward at first but you eventually get used to them. During cut scenes and highlights players walk through each other but this an an independent franchise taking off so you must be patient-it will improve. The big problem I had overall was the price. This game is not worth $50 and I would recommend waiting for a sale or price drop. I'm giving it an 8/10 because it is a fun game, looks good visually and the time does pass when playing it. So the cons in summary are shooting, running, cut scenes, and the price. This is a new game starting a franchise so we cannot be too judgmental, great job Carlo and big ant studios for the game overall. 8/10.
Definitely kind of fun, but the mechanics are pretty messed up. Shooting is okay, sprinting with the L3 button for a sports game is a terrible idea. I like the variability of button combos for dodging and checking.
My biggest problem is how stupid the AI defense is for your team is. Numerous times I have taken the ball away, it rolls near the front of the goal and the rest of the defense stands and watches while the player I took it away from scoops it and scores on the doorstep. Same with faceoffs, I will win the faceoff the ball will go straight toward a teammate, yet he will stand there and wait for the other team to pick it up. I get it, I should change to that character, but at least move toward the ball or do SOMETHING.
The character creation and team creation are definitely the best part in my opinion, but even that is kind of screwed up. I created a team and started a Career with them, and now the team and characters I created have all disappeared, which took me a couple hours to do. So that was a bummer.
The graphics are KILLER, I like the slow mo after goals are scored, but I find myself pretty frustrated with the ease the other team has scoring due to the kinks in the defensive AI.
Overall, I probably would have given it a lower score, but its a GREAT start and hopefully a bigger sports games studio picks it up so they can fix on some of the rather large problems. I hate to give such a negative review but for a game that costs $60 its pretty weak. If I didn't pay for it through the Kickstarter a couple years ago, I'd be pretty pissed I spent $60 on a game thats really more like $30.
SummaryCasey Powell Lacrosse 16 is a console lacrosse simulation with authentic gameplay, multi-year dynasty mode, competitive online multiplayer, real-time RPG leveling, and in-depth character customization.
