It works well as a game you can just pick up and poke at as desired to kill just a bit of time. [Issue #21 – May/June 2016, p.28]

Miitomo is an impressive start for Nintendo's mobile projects. It's an easy-to-use social network that's highly unique and delivers big laughs and lots of fun. It's also fair about in-app purchases, and contains no advertising. That said, we'll have to wait and see whether or not the world has long-term use for a highly structured, perpetually cheerful social network.

Miitomo is an interesting take on social media that is well worth picking up for a personality filled app experience.

All in all, if you love your social media, then this could certainly have you adding the app to your daily routine, especially if Nintendo incorporates it into its upcoming NX system.

In several ways, Miitomo is the perfect kind of app for Nintendo to bring to mobile devices – it’s unexpected, silly, and it doesn’t make any sense.

Miitomo marks the beginning of My Nintendo, the successor of Club Nintendo. The Fans of Big N have found their own social network. However we must recognize that this is pretty funny. We hope that Nintendo will rapidly improve this new baby, though very promising!

Miitomo is distinctively a Nintendo game, but it's too light on content to keep the interest for a long time.

One that has that classic sense of Nintendo originality to make it all the more charming. Given that is more on the social media side of things there isn't much actual gameplay. The enjoyment comes from the unique way you can interact with others. So the more people you connect with the better Miitomo is.

It's all about answering questions about yourself and reading other people's answers. It's a pretty clever way to share your interests while learning about your friends and/or family. It doesn't sound like much and to be honest it really isn't. However Nintendo is able to add a sense of fun to it all and throw in some rewards to make it worthwhile.

You can also deck out your Mii with some new gear. You can import your Mii from your other Nintendo systems by linking your Nintendo account or make a new one just for the game. Either way it's entertaining to interact with your (fully voiced) virtual doppelganger.

Another exciting thing about Miitomo is the potential is has. Nintendo has the power to expand upon it in interesting ways and I really hope they do so. Possibly with integration to their future games and the upcoming NX.

While this sort of limited social media design might not appeal to everyone, the free-to-play model makes it at least worth a look. With some work on Nintendo's part this could end up being Facebook-lite for Nintendo fans. As it stands now it's a fun diversion. One worth checking out and has the potential to keep you coming back even in it's current state. I can't wait to see where they take things from here.

It's certainly good for Nintendo's only foray into the mobile world, but there are many areas that need improving and I worry Nintendo won't be good about making said improvements.

If you have more than just a few friends, the "recent" tab is way too spammy. Any time someone comments on a friend's post, it gets bumped up to the top of recent. Even if you've seen a post and cleared it from recent before, a new comment will bump it back up to the top. I have only 5 friends right now and this is just too much. Many of these comments are from people I don't know, and have 0 interest in. Comments on my own posts get drowned out. Options to filter out what gets put in the recent tab would be nice.

Shop diversity could be better. For how little is in the base shop, the daily items really don't seem to come often enough. The items you can get from games also seem to move at a snails pace. Goofy food joke clothes for two weeks--great!

I understand the purpose of this app, but I would also appreciate it being easier to just add friends. Having to juggle a Twitter account I don't use just to add people is pretty annoying.

On the technical end, this game has a ton of load screens. I feel like it isn't good with battery life, either. There's an option for reducing the power the app uses, but the only obvious effect it has is it limits FPS. This does nothing for its background power consumption. The app also doesn't automatically disable music if you have a music player open, usually a pretty standard feature for any app. There's also bugs here and there, with probably the most frequent being that the music will randomly quit.

I'd like to be able to like / favorite / whatever people's comments.

Probably less trivial to implement, I've often found myself wanting to respond to questions with miifotos.

I wish I could remove skipped questions. I'll not judge, but some of the questions Nintendo has prepared are terribly vapid (a common example being their assumption that everyone using their app is employed. What could go wrong?) It's not at all unheard of that some questions could chafe. I don't want a permanent record of it within my skipped questions or my answers just because Nintendo asked it.

I'm probably missing a few criticisms. I am having fun with the app overall, but it could be better in many places. I just hope they receive feedback well and make improvements on the app.

Otherwise it's an OK start for Nintendo's first go at mobile "gaming" if you could even call it that. I haven't written this off, but Nintendo will need to make get players more involved with more content and purpose before I feel satisfied with Miitomo. OK first effort. Expand

It is a simple social media attempting to make you know better your friends, in which it does ok, also it is very funny to take pictures and make memes or anything you want with it, which is an unexpectedly enjoyable feature, the amount of costumes and outfits is right, and increasing day by day, which is always excellent.

Bad thing is it lacks other activities, being the pseudo-crane game the only one to get special items, or the crappy candies most of the time; I think the game needs serious content updates to provide more minigames to make it more entertaining, also a way to customize your room would be really appreciated, since it seems like a lost feature rather than intended in that way.

So, if you don't have many friends to add, this app will bore you pretty quickly, otherwise, you will find a funny app to share photos and comments on your friends.

The way you "play" this app is very awkward and annoying. The game is centred around a Mii you created yourself, you must look after and give it new clothes and accessories, kind of like Tomodachi Life. But unlike Tomodachi Life this game completely rips it off from every design and detail. Not to mention the new features are terrible. The happy, quirky, funny Miis that you know for Tomodachi Life are now united and replaced with annoying, giddy and obnoxious characters that constantly ask you pointless questions every minute!!!!! One thing I will give credit to is that it at least tries something a bit more new that no other Mii game has done before. Miitomo tries to be a "social" app like Instagram or Snapchat with it's 12+ rating but fails completely. The new mini-games are ridiculous and pointless. This game admittedly is the weakest of the Mii franchise. If you looking for a cool virtual pet or social media app it's best recommended to stay away from this one.  Expand
