My time with Lies of P was exactly the intense and gratifying experience that I hoped for. As one who holds Bloodborne in the highest regard as one of FromSoftware’s finest achievements, I found myself absolutely enamored with Round 8 Studio’s unique, clever take on the formula. While the game broadly functions similarly to the best the Soulslike genre has to offer, Lies of P‘s tweaks and refinements are so masterfully planned out and implemented that they make every moment of gameplay a pleasure. From the dopamine hits provided by exploring the labyrinthine level layouts, to the extreme elation of finally besting a challenging boss, there’s nary a moment of Lies of P‘s meaty campaign that feels wasted or unsatisfactory. With a post-credits teaser hinting at a second incredible twist on another literary classic lying in wait, the future looks bright for this new addition to the genre. Lies of P, welcome to the top!
Neowiz took something well-known and really made it their own with stunning results. Lies of P is a game you can easily get lost in - provided you don't lose your cool.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this game. I have seen so many people compare it to Fromsoftware games but honestly this game does it's own thing. It really rewards skill base players especially those that play aggressive. When I started I thought the parry mechanic wouldn't be the best but once I got it down I barely had to dodge. I could just stand there and parry everything and if I missed the parry window I would be able to block the move and regain my lost health by bashing the enemies head in.
Honestly I wish I could see more games like this one where is not about learning attack patterns or being patient butmy skills are actually being tested and I can just go crazy in combat and that has felt a lot more satisfying than playing Elden Ring.
Excellent soulslike, un parfait combo entre sekiro, Bloodborne et Dark souls. Les personnages sont bien travaillés.L'histoire est riche avec ses alternatives et émouvantes.
All things considered, Lies of P is a product that has managed to convince us from practically every point of view. Neowiz's new work, although it plays very defensively and doesn't do anything truly new for the category to which it belongs, is a title with a living and breathing soul that reveals all the passion lavished by the studio during development. An exciting plot combined with the perfect artistic direction are the flagship of a robust and exhilarating play structure that will delight all fans of the genre. Are you ready to discover the darkness that lies in the depths of Krat?
Lies of P is wearing Bloodborne’s cloak, but it has its own heart, one encased in metal and powered by ingenuity. It sometimes transfixes on tropes of the genre to its detriment, yet still overcomes by the sheer quality of its boss fights, combat mechanics, and world design. Lies of P’s steel heart may not be born of blood and flesh, but it still pumps heartily enough to be a worthy substitute for the real deal.
Lies of P is a solid, well-thought-out game that – apart from some minor
touches of originality – sticks closely to the formula developed by
FromSoftware. Although every aspect of this Soulslike could be better, I
believe fans of the genre will have a lot of fun playing it (if you can
call dying 30 times in a row a lot of fun, that is).
There’s some enjoyment to be found in Lies of P. Its action is competent, but lacks the polish and stir of its contemporaries. Its atmosphere can be engrossing, but it’s a hodgepodge of themes and aesthetics you’ve seen before that never rises above the familiar. I was never impressed by it, and I never stopped questioning the point of the entire endeavour throughout my time with it.
This is absolutely my game of the year for 2023. Hands down the best souls-like I’ve played, period. In all honesty, I’m not sure that FromSoft themselves could have done this game any more justice. I’ve been pining for FromSoft to come back with another game that really scratches my Bloodborne itch. It’s doubtful there will be a sequel to that masterpiece, and to be frank, it doesn’t need one. But that doesn’t change the fact that I want more of that gameplay. And that’s where Lies of P comes in. From the first moments of this game, I felt right at home. That Neowiz was able to not only pay homage to, but make many improvements to the Bloodborne gameplay style is a massive accomplishment in my opinion. This game is an absolute joy, from the gameplay, to the story, and atmosphere. Lies is simply dripping with personality, and the city of Krat is jaw dropping. I recommend this game constantly, and will continue to do so. This game has earned a special place in my heart, and if you haven’t played it yet, and you enjoy challenging, rewarding gameplay, you owe it to yourself to give this game a shot.
Good looking and competent riff on Bloodborne with a lot going for it. Unfortunately the level design is just average, the game is stiflingly linear and combat heavily relies on comically delayed attacks and swings or stabs without any windup or tell, as if the devs couldn't figure out how to make it challenging without resorting to what feels like cheap tricks. It's not a bad game per se, I was having fun for the most part, but hopefully the devs will address some of those fundamental flaws for the sequel.
Btw isn't it weird there were TWO clockwork punk soulslikes coming out in 2023 - Steelrising and Lies of P?
Awesome game I really liked it how ever the difficulty scaling for new game+ and how my stats scaled was ridiculous I feel like it was just way to hard which ruined the replay ability for me.
It compares to “Sekiro” as a “Witcher” series compares to Paul Jackson LOTR trilogy. Decent enough to exist but at the same time 0 adequate LOTR fans would try to compare them. Sekiro is a masterpiece and LOP is a B rated product.
Early game is really good. I enjoyed lot. Early game difficulty balance is better than any souls game. But late game is terrible. I annoyed and hate everything about it.After swamp section game started more and more annoying. And late area is just ridiculous. Like playing on a maze and you can killed by random environmental **** and you need to find your way again.ı was planning to second playthrough and now i just want to finish game delete and forget abot it.
