In the game, players take on the role of urban planner and real estate developer, creating a metropolitan paradise from dozens of beautifully rendered structures – including elaborately crafted villas and ultra-modern skyscrapers. City Life comprises the full city building experience, requiring players to take into account the need for municipal services, education, entertainment and a complete infrastructure system while maintaining harmony between the game's six distinct social classes. The graphics engine allows players to walk the streets of their cities, or zoom out to multiple levels for a better view of the overall action. A custom map editor will allow players to expand upon the 22 maps included with the game. [CDV Software] Expand

It not only makes for a perfect introduction to the genre for those curious few yet to sample a taste of Sim City, as well as providing some more meatier challenges for the experienced simmer. Combine this with the incredibly detailed, smooth and well-conceived graphics and the discrete sound and music, and you have a game that's pretty much a must have.
  2. The fact of different groups and their interaction adds another dimension to an already neat idea. Budding Mayors will love it.
  3. City Life adds a new social element to the traditional sim game. It takes some clever planning to keep your city’s populace from destroying each other, but the implementation feels just a bit heavy-handed. The rest of the package is high caliber, except for some questionable taste in music.
  4. Despite the familiarity of City Life’s gameplay, the social element is fresh enough to make it an easy recommendation, despite any political overtones it may carry. If you are a city building fan or just have time to kill until Sim City 5 is released, City Life is a good choice, thanks to its easygoing nature and appealing structure.

Juggling to accommodate the intellectuals with the riff-raff offers a pleasant twist on the genre, but this still doesn't quite have the sheen of Will Wright's series. [June 2006, p.80]
  6. There's definitely enough complexity and strategy here to keep those who make it past the frustrating first steps, but unfortunately I feel this game may only appeal to more determined fans of the genre.

The plea of distinction City Life enters ultimately fails due to tactical elements so facile they might as well not exist. [June 2006, p.120]

StarForce, the newest way to protect game software from pirates, and it is pretty good at what it does. Most games that useStarForce, the newest way to protect game software from pirates, and it is pretty good at what it does. Most games that use 'StarForce' don't seem to have working nocd patches, (or rather, working ones) it is obvious that those who hate StarForce are pirates, plain and simple.

I would also like to state that I hated SimCity 2000. The game was too easy with no clear distinction of what to do. So I build a city, leveled taxes, what now? (promptly shoots down helicopter). If this game merly mirrors gameplay from 2000 I will hate it till the end.

Excellent and very detailed graphics and an almost perfect gameplay make this a somewhat classic. Can't wait for City Life 2 (or 2000).
