Save a Tokyo under siege by spirits in a new adventure from mastermind Shinji Mikami and the team at Tango Gameworks. Explore the streets of a city filled with spirits and mysterious otherworldly threats, with an arsenal of powerful abilities at your command.
Tokyo has become a city under siege; overwhelmed by paranormal threats beyond our understanding. After a devastating occult event leads to the disappearance of 99% of the city's population, only you stand between the loss of this great city and its salvation. After the vanishing, a strange encounter causes your own supernatural abilities to take shape. Explore a beautiful city that blends ultra-modern cityscapes and stunning ancient shrines as you purge the darkness from your home. Armed with a bevy of formidable, upgradeable powers, you will face off against evil spirits (referred to as The Visitors) haunting the city of Tokyo.
    Spirits like:
    * Amewarashi: This entity manifests as a young child in a yellow raincoat. Derived from the powerful emotions of sadness caused by being separated from his parents, as well as his innocent yet mischievous spirit, this Visitor will call for help and bring forth fellow spirit when it feels threatened.
    * Shiromuku: Shiromuku is a traditional type of pure white wedding kimono, and though she may appear to be a bride, this Visitor is actually a physical manifestation of powerful emotions. This Visitor represents regret and strong feelings for a partner she was never able to marry.
    * Kuchisake: Inspired by an actual urban legend, the Kuchisake-onna is a strong and agile opponent, capable of closing distances quickly to get at you with her large scissor blades. Be careful if she asks you if you find her attractive; there are no right answers there.
Each spirit will have its own attack styles and weaknesses, so you'll need to combine your abilities in different ways to suit each unique combat encounter.
But the spirits roaming the streets aren't the only threat. At the heart of everything the disappearance of the population, the appearance of the Visitors, and even your own supernatural abilities sits a shadowy group wearing "Hannya" masks. Who are they, what they want and how they will interact with you remains a mystery, and it will be up to you to determine their motives and unveil the mystery.

Ghostwire: Tokyo is a phenomenal experience through and through, it didn't matter what area of the game I tackled, I found myself having a blast experiencing every single one of them.

Ghostwire Tokyo brings elements of an action RPG, a horror game, and an open-world game together with brilliant results. The environments and the visuals are dripping with style and substance, with nearly everything in the game having a real-life inspiration from myths to urban legends. While it might not quite be the horror game some fans are looking for, Ghostwire Tokyo delivers a fun and engaging experience from start to finish.

Ghostwire: Tokyo is an FPS that could have only been delivered by a Japanese studio. From the main story and side missions to the detailed environments and appealing characters, for those who have been craving a game set in modern Japan, Ghostwire: Tokyo is an extremely satisfying experience. While the battle system can become a bit tedious and controls for healing feel inconvenient, the game deserves credit for delivering action that feels exhilarating without relying on grotesque visuals.

Fun combat and a sophisticated city burdened with the unfulfilled potential of a far scarier experience.

Ghostwire: Tokyo is not a bad game by any standard. It's pretty, it's fun, and it follows a formula that has proven to be successful even if it's overdone by this point. As I played through it for this review I found myself alternating between enjoying myself and being frustrated with its shortcomings. There is a potentially brilliant horror/detective game buried under all the superfluous side quests and pointless collectibles, and each time I caught a glimpse of it, I find myself wondering about what could have been.

The unique setting really helps to lift Ghostwire: Tokyo from myriad of problems such as a plain open-world design and lackluster combat. If you love Japan and mystical powers, then Ghostwire can be just the game you're looking for.

Ghostwire: Tokyo isn’t bad or broken. It’s just a game that’s not particularly ambitious and almost feels at odds with itself, leaving it with a lot of wasted potential. It might yield a couple of interesting online searches if you’re uninitiated in Japanese folklore, and you can pet lots of dogs and cats, but there are ways to go about doing those things without sitting through Akito’s snoozefest of a tale.

Beautiful and fun game from same studio, that made The Evil Within. They know exactly how to make mysterious and unique atmosphere. Unlike TheBeautiful and fun game from same studio, that made The Evil Within. They know exactly how to make mysterious and unique atmosphere. Unlike The Evil Within, it's not horror game, it's more action-adventure, but it definitely has some horror elements here and there. Very cool creature and boss designs, just as in The Evil Within, very creative. I haven't finished it yet, but after 7 hours of gameplay i can easily recommend it, if you are looking for something unique to play. Expand

This game is stylish to a T. I love how they were able to make Tokyo feel so alive despite there only being spirits and pets. It's super cool how the street lights turn red (with lens flare) when the ghosts detect you. 9/10 just cause depth dips in later game, but love the potential for this gameplay style--not to mention the universe. And, you always gotta give kudos to new IP! Expand

If you love and know japanese mythology and urban legends you will LOVE it. Enemeys and side quests each have myth or urban legend in it. Tokyo in this game is masterfully created. Combat is way to easy if you play it on normal, so select hard. Animations with hands are amaizing aswell. Main Story is okeyish, nothing to brag about but lore of the city, side missions and enemys carry this game, atleast for me japanese fanboy. Compering it to all this bad games this year 7,5/10.
