Headspun tries to merge several genres in one game. On paper, the idea might have worked, but when you actually play it you see its shortcomings. However, it’s a good option if you’re looking for something experimental.

Headspun is intriguing and takes creative risks by blending genres together. It's a shame about those few missing links.

Headspun makes up for its lack of gameplay with an emphasis on visual style and storytelling. While not for everyone, fans of narrative adventure games will find something to enjoy here.

Headspun's mix of management sim and FMV narrative is fairly unique. However, repetition and buggy gameplay mar the game's potential.

It has an interesting, thought-provoking story and takes an innovative approach in combining different gaming genres, but Headspun’s implementation is uneven and results in equal measures of fun and frustration.

I happen to be a big fan of FMV games, so I’m always happy to see another entry join the genre’s catalog. It may be unfortunate that too much of the game is focused on its least interesting parts, but the story is able to bring up questions of happiness, work, friendship, and mental health that I give it credit for trying to tackle. Your time is probably best spent elsewhere, but here’s to hoping the crew over at Superstring can learn from their mistakes and come back for a stronger sophomore effort.

For every spark of a neuron, there’s a cluster of dead cells threatening to snuff it out. The entire enterprise feels like a bundle of great ideas that mix together into something that’s less than the sum of its parts.

A game that tries to blend the different genres but fails miserably. The more time you play this game, the more time you are losing.
