IL-2 Stormovik Cliffs of Dover Blitz Edition is good evolution of a must-have simulation taking place during World War 2. It can't be recommended to those who wants to play it casually and it feels not as good as DCS mods. But it's cheaper, so if you are the target, you can go for it.

This is my go to Flight Sim. Partly because I like the planes and the Battle of Britain theatre, but it's not just that. It has something about it that is hugely addictive. Maybe it was coded with monosodium glutamate or I dunno... whatever the catnip equivalent is for talking monkeys... Sure is moreish !

The flight models are convincing, the scenery is amazing. It's a wonderful update to the original Cliffs of Dover.

If you like flight sims and don't already Own Cliffs of Dover Blitz, I highly recommend it.

There are a few others out there that are very good as well but none of them reaches the same level of realism. The game depicts the Battle of Britain in 1940 but you can purchase the add-on "Desert Wings - Tobruk" (North Africa in 1941-1942) thus adding one theatre of operations to your game (some 88 player flyable aircraft!). The basic game (BLITZ) features 48 flyable aircraft for the player. If you are not used to hardcore simulations, it will take some time before you manage to really fly at least one aircraft in full realism mode, but once you learn the essentials... this game is the most rewarding simulation you can run with a PC, that's for sure. In order the learn flying with this higly realistic sim, simply go to the official forums and ask all the questions you need to ask. Expand

Other than that this sim is the best that has ever been developed over time. The FM, DM and host of other details and features are truly second to none. It really is as I imagine it was to actually be there. :)
