Lake is a truly beautiful narrative adventure. The sound design is excellent and the story progresses in a delicate way, with feeling. An oasis of relaxation in a chaotic world that is always in a hurry.

A fantastic feat of storytelling and character building in relatively short time, Lake demands to be played. Compelling narratives and characters unfold beautifully and organically in an adventure game that lets the player cobble together their own tales of Providence Oaks.

Lake amazes for its coherence and compactness, for its essential and at the same time deep and melancholy nature.

Lake is an extremely charming story-driven title where you can accidentally be so nice to everyone that you end up forgetting to live for yourself. For the right kind of person, that in and of itself can be a much-needed wake up call; for everyone else, it’s in the very least a soothing little mail-carrying simulator that allows you to set the pace. If you’re looking for some slice-of-life goodness that provides some chill and calming ambiance, taking it easy with Lake is a no-brainer.

Lake is a lovely, slow-paced indie game to play in your downtime. Rich in personality and character, well worth replaying.

You won't want to leave Lake when the credits roll, such is the splendour of its setting and the welcome warmth of so many people who call this place home (assuming you weren't a dick to everyone). But you'll wish its flashes of understated majesty and its softly spoken introspective exchanges weren't compromised by performance that's woefully inconsistent. But if Gamious manages to patch this into a steadier experience, you can add a point, or even two, to the score below. Because there's something special here, beneath the creaks and the cracks.

The worst part is that there’s zero intrigue. This setting would have been perfect for misadventures of Alan Wake, a mystical thriller or a murder mystery, but Lake is different. It’s very grounded, true-to-life, sterile and a bit janky, a primitive middle ground between Bus Simulator and Death Stranding.

Beautiful and relaxing "adventure" game with no twists, mysteries or challenges. Just a nice 2 weeks at the lake delivering mail. And contemplating.

Para mi gusto le ha faltado una historia mejor, pero el relato es demasiado lineal y costumbrista para mi gusto.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This really had so much promise. The concept of a woman returning home from the big city and her high stress job. Reuniting with estranged friends, creating new romantic relationships. The delicate balance between maintaining relationships with work colleagues and telling the truth. It all added up to nothing. Frank was investigated and then after a few days just returned to work. The inspector left without an explanation. Angie closed her video store, disappeared and then came back to sweep Meredith away without any question or objection. Every storyline fell completely flat. Whether that is due to writing, budgets, or limitations of a small development team. Who knows? Maybe all of them. There is a definite market for games like this. I just wish they were told in a more meaningful way. Expand

An amiable stroll through Boringville and Vanilla-Town. You'll be entrusted with everyone's favorite trove of federal secrets - The Mail.

Said secrets don't really exist though, that'd be too much actual something. No, the point of this undaunting time-waster is to merely place white pieces of envelope in boxes.

But there's a twist! Oh wait, no there's not. Other than getting frustrated at the non-turbo they give you, twists or drama of any kind is deemed too stressful, so they replace it with an innocuous walking simulator.

    Enjoy!
