This brilliantly desinged game breaks out of the cliches of the collectible-card-game genre ("Magic", "Pokemon", etc.) and provides gameplay that can rival that of the deepest of strategy games. [May 2004, p.84]
The balance between the board game / influence style of play and using cards to turn the tables on an opponent works out extremely well, and the amount of cards that you can get and combinations to add into your decks is impressive.
It's great because it combines elegance, interesting gameplay choices, and the attraction of card-collecting in what has to be one of the very best pure game designs of the year.
