  1. This is a worthy addition to the Tales of Monkey Island series. It's one that all adventure fans should own and everyone else should at least try.
  2. The Trial And Execution Of Guybrush Threepwood has proved that Telltale has what it takes to equal LucasArts's best. [Christmas 2009, p.114]
  3. While not the best of the chapters, The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood's story progression and cliffhanger ending have me more excited for the next episode than I have been for any of the previous ones.
  4. However, despite the once-again difficult and confusing complexity of some of the puzzles and the dramedy-filled story, The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood successfully brings gamers to the threshold of the Tales of Monkey Island's final chapter.
  5. This is the best chapter published to date, which is a great thing considering there's just one left until we know how this story ends.
  6. The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood starts slowly and so It ends. In the middle Telltale put a good story, a couple of fantastic characters and some rewarding puzzles. Maybe not the best episode of the series, The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood is still an enjoyable game.
  7. Another disappointing chapter in the increasingly uneven adventures of gaming's mightiest pirate.

Though the puzzles are on the weaker side this time, the twists and turns that the story takes are all gripping and make you want to finish the chapter in one sitting. The returning character is definitely a highlight of this chapter, but everyone else also has a compelling arc — everyone gets their own important moments, which is impressive given how limited the game's time is.
