Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is a must-play for both TMNT and beat-’em-up fans alike. It’s a game that takes what worked in the past, but still finds space to innovate beyond its fan service and nostalgia play. If you’ve ever felt like retro revivals can’t be much more than shallow nostalgia, Shredder’s Revenge will prove that there’s still more than enough room for an old genre to grow.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge caters to a specific niche audience, but couldn’t have done a better job of it. The developers understood what made the arcade games great thirty plus years ago and build on it, creating a game that is rooted in the style of its predecessors with just enough modernization to feel contemporary. References to the classic games and cartoon are sprinkled throughout. Interactions with supporting characters like Vern and Irma are deliberately handled in a manner that would fit in during the 16-bit era. Shredder’s Revenge does rely on nostalgia for the golden age of arcade gaming for players to be completely enamored with it. Without the nostalgia goggles, it’s still a great retro beat ’em up based on its own gameplay merits, but for those who grew up with the classic Turtles, it feels like a fragment of childhood has been recreated.

A game that continues the core of the retro belt scroll genre. It emphasizes exciting action rather than equipment farming or growth process, and succeed to sustain each advantages both in single and multi-play. Especially, multiplayer delivers the joy of belt scroll thanks to its matching system and roll-back net code. The world with good use of TMNT universe is also attractive.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is like having an arcade at home, filled with joy, memories and a brilliant take on classic beat'em up. It's not perfect, it doesn't have huge amount of contents, it's never too original but well, Tribute Games take on Ninja Turtles is simply fun to play and stunning to admire. Good alone, great with friends, it's a love letter to arcade gaming without stressing too much on the nostalgia effect.
  5. Our young turtles are back with the soul of 90s. Shredder and Krang are still as fearsome as ever. But this will not stop our heroes in a half shell.

Shredder's Revenge was expected at the turn and it never disappoints. A love letter to the beat'em up (understand action game against several opponents) of the 16-bit generation (Super Nintendo, Mega Drive...), it pays homage to Turtles in Time by relying on a gameplay of exception and a simply masterful achievement. Beautiful, colorful, well animated and accompanied by catchy music, the title of Tribute Games multiplies the nods to the franchise and will delight all those who despaired of rediscovering the sensations of yesteryear. Yes, some aspects of the game are classic, but the adventure is so exhilarating and dynamic that we want more! Unquestionably the best Ninja Turtles game since Turtles in Time. Fans will be thrilled.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge does what it set itself to do, bring people back to the 80's with a straight to the point beat ’em up experience. Despite of that, it remains modern, with enemies bringing up proper challenge to the player, even when facing the levels with friends. Unfortunately, it fails in bringing characters with personality. With all the turtles and other fighters doing pretty much the same thing, most passionate fans will still miss their beloved heroes.

And that’s heavy shoes to fill with the likes of old school arcade games like X-men,TMNT arcade and Simpsons. The jump in and jump out Co-op is great. I can create a lobby or jump right into another flawlessly. Controls are fluid and the story mode is rewarding with the power-ups”levels” you get and you can jump in and out of that as well like arcade. It’s hard to put down and I’ve probably logged 15 hours already with two days since launch. If you are on the fence….. GET THIS GAME NOW!! Expand

Exactly the kind of TMNT game that I've been waiting for. Worth playing if you're a beat 'em up or TMNT fan.

The game is great, but 8 out of 10 because it's too short. Why are so few levels created? Will there be more or is that all?

The ost isn't quite as good as tmnt 4 and the taunt is broken. Those are the only flaws I can think of.
Oh, and that you can't choose comic

Oh, and that you can't choose comic book colors for the turtles.
