Movie licensed titles are often less than satisfactory, but The Spiderwick Chronicles manages to pair decent gameplay with impressive production values.
-
While it’s far from perfect, The Spiderwick Chronicles makes for an enjoyable adventure, especially for young ones. Genre fans might find it a bit too simple, but those who aren’t above playing a “kid’s game” will find a surprisingly respectable adventure title.
-
If children don't become bored easily, this game could offer endless hours of exploration and problem-solving. However, the slow pace may become annoying for those in need of more action.
-
If you're looking for a simple adventure game based on an enjoyable license, you'll probably enjoy this one.
-
Inventory restrictions, abundance of backtracking and run of the mill production values make things pretty average.
-
Lacks a final polish, the combat and exploration can get repetitive, and the visuals are poor. However, there are a number of minor features which will please fans such as the entries in the Field Guide and Thimbletack’s tendency to rhyme.
-
I was surprised at how simple and fun the fairy collection was, but the combat mechanics are a dull affair. Traipsing around in the walls isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and the game’s reliance on the field guide is a lazy design trick.

Jan 25, 2022It was a great game apart from the graphics on the Ps2. I had a lot of fun playing it in my childhood and even today it's still fun.
