  1. Wrath's only problems are small but important: Loading unfortunately breaks up the game's pacing, the fighting engine could be deeper, and there's no online mode.

The game is definitely a bit slower-paced than a lot of console gamers are used to, and the learning curve is also a bit steeper than normal, but give it some time and you'll find yourself engrossed with the deep gameplay and crisp visuals.

A shallow mix of strategy and slapping, cursed by long loading times, WU falters a bit but staggers back by keeping the core tenets of its lineage intact. [Mar 2004, p.39]
  4. Its aspects of action, while moderately engaging, are wholly unbalanced; in addition, the elements of strategy are watered-down for ease of play.
  5. While it may be a fun little jaunt with the appearance of a clever strategy/action game, if you attempt to play it that way you soon find out that it is fundamentally broken. A lesson from history, one hopes.

Too simple for strategy fans and too complex for fighting fans. The occasionally interesting creature design and accompanying animation can't save this one from its cliched premise, uninteresting gameplay, and interminable load times. [Mar 2004, p.103]

This game rox-sox! It's Advanced Wars meets Soul Calibur!

This game may not really be as bad as 1. But it certainly deserves a 1 when compared to one of my favorite PS games: The Unholy War. The This game may not really be as bad as 1. But it certainly deserves a 1 when compared to one of my favorite PS games: The Unholy War. The following game elements are all much better in The Unholy War: * battlegournd variety * creature variety * gameplay Compared to The Unholy War, Wrath Unleashed is flat, flat, flat. None of the pieces fly - not meaningfully. Some of them "hover", which is, for the purposes of combat, not that different from walking. Their combat moves are also pretty much all the same. There is pretty much only one battle ground - in different colors. The Unholy War had wonderfully different battleground design. The graphics are also difficult to make out, which is frustrating. Perhaps they are better on an HDTV. But on my normal TV everything is so small. Very disappointing. Expand
