An unexpected meeting offers Rodrik a new opportunity to free Ironrath from its Whitehill stranglehold, but with young Ryon Forrester still imprisoned, his next moves are critical. Gared must abandon Castle Black and venture beyond the Wall in search of the mysterious North Grove, risking encounters with Wildlings and worse. In King's Landing, the population is reeling from a recent royal death, and Mira must step carefully in an increasingly complex game of politics where secrets are traded as currency. Far away in Essos, Asher infiltrates the slave city of Meereen at the behest of Daenerys Targaryen, but will the friendship he holds dear break under the strain of a mission that raises memories best forgotten? A lot of the pieces in this elaborately crafted game of chess are finally starting to move towards what can only end up being quite spectacular climaxes. Oh, and it feels damn good to finally fight back.

The team at Telltale Games has done a spectacular job of creating a compartmentalised story that runs parallel to the books and show that fans know so well.

Nicole Martinez and Brad Kane clearly care a lot about this world, and with episode four, they’ve introduced a lot of critical momentum to the season that makes it feel like the series has turned a corner.

It may be a fixed narrative with little alterations, but it’s still an interesting narrative, but should that fail at any point than this entire castle built by Telltale may collapse.

Those plot threads need weaving together soon, lest our interest run out before winter arrives. [Aug 2015, p.90]

The overall arc of the season remains unclear and it’s too early to tell if the whole shebang is worth playing. Unfortunately, Telltale are either resting on their laurels or have committed to too many projects - or perhaps both. Game of Thrones continues to suffer as a result, it’s dour atmosphere and familiar mechanics only enticing to huge fans of George R. R. Martin’s world.

Telltale’s Game of Thrones series, now over halfway through its first season, has been a huge disappointment so far, but it’s been improving steadily, and Episode Four – Sons of Winter proves there’s real potential in the concept, even if Telltale might not have been the right candidate for the job.

Im having just as much fun playing this as i do watching the show, except most of the time im either crying or in disbelief when im watching the show. But anyway i can see this game going along way, and i hope Tell Tale make a season 2 similar to what they did with TWD. Expand
