As Godzilla players will trample and lay waste to cities and environments with the goal of taking out each area’s Energy Generator while collecting as much G-Energy as possible. The G-Energy can then be used to power-up Godzilla, increasing both his physical size as well as his offensive and defensive skills.
The game will also allow players to utilize a dynamic Movie-Style Camera Angle System, delivering the most epic camera angles from which to destroy both a multitude of locations as well as classic enemies such as Mothra, King Ghidorah, and Mechagodzilla.

The game is littered with fan service and was clearly made by people who love the property. In a way, that’s what makes it so frustrating.

All in all, there may not be enough substance for a gamer to really stick around and play the game more than a few times in curiosity.

Its poor graphics, repetitive missions and awful controls make this Godzilla a bad videogame.

While it does have a lot of fan service, it really doesn’t have much else besides clunky gameplay, horrible visuals, and repetitive gameplay.

Bumbling combat, laughable visuals, and terribly overpriced.

You would think a game in which you can pimp-slap a moth as a 40ft-tall garbage monster couldn’t possibly be that bad. You would, however, be wrong.

This game was developed to correlate movement, visual gameplay, roster, and mechanics to that of the movies so thoroughly that it makes you think of how unauthentic previous Godzilla "fighter" games (Save the Earth, Unleashed..) were compared to this. This is the Godzilla movies..in a game. His interactions with the environment, encounters with other monsters, and sluggish movement all give you that authentic feel of what Godzilla should be in game. The only downside would be graphics ( which aren't terrible for a PS3 port ), for the power PS4 holds the graphics could have definitely been better. Beside that, A+ in my book. Expand

My problem with reviews of this game is a lack of perspective.

People want this game to be a sharp, controlled fighter, when it's really a movie simulator! People complain the graphics look PS2, when apparently they've never seen these films! The special effects and very way the building fall apart is straight out of a Toho film. The models might as well be direct scans of the SH MonsterArts toy line!

The controls are designed to feel exactly how you should, Iike a behemoth that shouldn't be able to move around fast in the first place! If you make a mistake charging and miss you opponent, you get punished and have to slow turn. That is what I expect to happen!

The detailed sound effects of this game blow my mind! Not only does every monster use the correct roars from their films, but the very SFX they make when they fall is the same. That's the kind of attention to detail someone puts in when they care about what they're making! I personally lost my mind when they queued up Akira Ifukube's Military Marches at each Disaster Level!

The multi-player itself is something different. It's plotting and methodical. You can't just run in and expect to win by spamming. You have to watch you opponents for opening.

Is it a fan service game? Absolutely!
    Is it grindy? Yes.
Is it something the average Battlefield player should play? No, because this isn't their game!

Sure the game suffers from some issues with difficulty at the beginning, but the game does not punish you for going the easy route. For all that it's worth it certainly simulates what it's like from the monster's point of view, just destroy whatever is in your way. Tank controls on it could be better, but this is probably the first time Natsume (developers of Harvest Moon and Abadox) has programmed a game of this magnitude. It is simplistic and kind of repetitive yet stays true to the Godzilla playstyle: slow and lumbering, yet unaware of gunfire. I'm only guessing this, but they may have just forgot to put in a life meter for Godzilla because he regenerates from near death damage so quickly. Overall I'd say that the game is fun for what it is and is quite aware of how gimmicky it is. 8/10 Expand

I mean, REALLY excited. But after playing 3 days fully..... it has disappointed me far worse than I could have imagined. The game itself renders the cinematic movies beautifully. It truly feels like you are taking part in some of the classics that I have grown up on. But the sluggish controls really hamper the game. Using the shoulder buttons to turn your monster is not that bad once you get used to it..... but it becomes chaotic when you are suddenly forced to slowly turn around and try to face what is attacking you from behind. The recovery time from being attacked is also really slow as it seems some monsters can just hit you over and over and over again without pause, all the while you are still trying to correct your position just so you may have a fighting chance. Most times, it ends in a premature death. Especially when fighting against the computer on Hard. Its almost impossible when Mothra is continuously spiraling at you and all you can do is take the hit. The addition of a block button would have been nice, but seeing how there isn't one, it just feels cheap. I really like the graphics myself. It has a nostalgia to it that makes it feel like you are in the movie or playing a part of it . As opposed to other Godzilla games, these are the best graphics the monster has received in some while. The addition of online play is a hit or miss. Sometimes it is absolute fun (minus the awkward controls) but most times there seems to be a lag that really hinders the experience. There is a real lack of game modes and it just gets so repetitive to play the same modes repeatedly just to unlock and level up monsters. I had to play all monsters doing the same mission over and over again just to reach a certain height / unlock new abilities. Its unfortunate as I have loved all the Godzilla games I have ever played. Save The Earth, Unleashed, Destroy All Monsters Melee, but this is the worst of the bunch. It pains me because I am a HUGE Godzilla fan and have been since my boyhood years. I just wish that somehow someone could get it right. But this is not the one. I would only recommend renting this game first before you shell out $60 for it. The lack of game play modes, repetitive play, poor controls and awful online functionality make this a bigger disaster than even Godzilla himself could make. I just hope that one day we get another game that will do him justice. Online could be great, but with sluggish controls and a lag that's almost consistent throughout....its a monster disappointment . ;( Expand
