It’s a massive shame that so few people are playing Intercept so soon after release – and that the number is only going to go down – because Intercept is excellent, a diamond finally cut from the rough potential of Killzone Shadow Fall. Fragile systems that must be balanced during relentless assaults, clever enemies and perfectly built maps combine to make it the best mode in the game.

It's not perfect, but there aren't many multiplayer experiences on PS4 that can touch it. [Issue#246, p.64]

The DLC is let down by a dwindling online user base, but get a group of friends together, and the reasonably priced add-on will almost always hit the mark.

Killzone Shadow Fall's Intercept expansion uses fresh ideas to raise the dramatic intensity on both ends of the win-lose spectrum, but the novelty wears thin, leaving predictable co-op fun that struggles to make a lasting impression.

That being said, when the overall quality of the production continues to shine through, and those four maps and classes are quite well-developed and presented, and the fun factor is undeniable, I have no choice but to recommend it.

Intercept is a surprisingly enjoyable experience that entwines havoc, synergy, and drama into a lovely bundle. It's a tad repetitive and light on content, though, so I certainly hope Guerrilla Games continues to support the expansion as it nears the standalone release.

It lacks content (unless you pay for it) and it lasts just a couple of hours. No go, unless you are the most hardcore fan.

Your missions are extremely challenging but possible. Sub missions to complete to level up classes and unlock new weapons. It sounds simple, but it's fun. All this together with the only good thing about Killzone Shadow Fall, its absurdly impressive graphics.
It was good while it lasted, too bad their servers are currently closed.

Thank God I read about Intercept because it’s fantastic and a lot of fun! Even though I never purchased the season pass and had to pay 10 € for this addon, every cent of it was absolutely worth it!

You play as a team of four players, each has to pick a different class (medic, assault, marksman and tactician). Teamwork and coordination is key since it’s not really a walk in the park and requires quite some skill and knowledge of your specific class.
The medic has to revive fallen team members and drop crucial supply boxes with ammunition.
The tactician drops useful and powerful turrets that keep the enemies at bay.
The marksman skillfully and powerfully eliminates enemies from a rather save distance and can lay down trip mines.
The assault is the go to guy when it comes to conquering or defending the beacons.

On each map (10 maps sounds about right) you have to defend three beacons that get stormed by Helghast enemies. The maps are beautiful and vary a lot from each other. I guess eventually the maps might get boring but so far (approximately 20 hours in) it’s still a blast.

It’s a shame that apparently so few know about this addon or just seem to ignore it, for it really is a lot of fun if you like co-op. It’s challenging without being too punishing and requires a lot of teamwork and skill.
I can only hope that more people will give this addon a chance and join. Particularly since quite a lot of PS4 owner purchased Killzone Shadow Fall when it came out.
So far I always found three other players to form a group immediately, but there really aren’t that many groups online at any give time.

Difficulty has been ramped up from what it was at launch (too easy at the start) and challenge requirements were scaled back for new weapon unlocks. All in all an enjoyable break from the multiplayer. Not going to sugar coat the player count though because it is brutal although better on weekends. You will need to add friends that want to play this to ensure you get full games especially for modes other than "quick game". Free with season pass on Killzone which is only $20 or $10 Stand alone makes me wonder why more people aren't playing. Maybe when they are sick of Destiny and COD it will pick up. The game itself regardless of player count is solid and beautiful Expand
