Any good RTS lover will appreciate Northgard's proposal, a game that is correct in every way and that leaves the best of it for the Multiplayer Mode. The variety of clans and the mechanics of growth of each Viking village will make us feel trapped to its simple but addictive gameplay.

The game can be quite the challenge until you really get the hang of all the various systems, being able to manage what your people do and who they fight is incredibly addictive. It’s also really thrilling whenever you manage to pull your clan back from the brink of disaster. If you’re a fan of strategy games then it’s definitely worth giving Northgard a try.

You love RTS, Vikings and North mythology? This game is the one! The graphics are nice and colorful, the gameplay is very well made and the music is just incredibly amazing! It also has a lot of choice for different clans to depend your strategy on. The only point that is so-so would be that it takes a little moment to get used to the controls, but once you get it, everything just goes by itself! This is a very small independent company that made a really great game. Go and encourage them! You won't be disappointed! Expand

It is a great game that I want to praise but it has some critical bugs that partly ruined the game for me. For itself it is a strategy gameIt is a great game that I want to praise but it has some critical bugs that partly ruined the game for me. For itself it is a strategy game like the settlers. It is set in Viking era. You took control over a Viking clan as you uncover new lands while battling enemies and facing dangers. You start with just one area and have to uncover the map (fog of war). You are limited on the number of structures you can build in each area but can acquire or settle in new areas (at increasing costs). You have to carefully plan depending on the needs and situation. However always build the woodcutter lodge, scouting hut and a normal house as soon as possible in the first area. It always helps. Resources are important (Should be a no brainer). The year is split into summer and winter. You have to acquire stocks as food and wood consumption increases in winter and the food production is decreased. You need wood and money to build structures which have maintenance cost. Each structure has its own benefits. For upgrades you need special resources for buildings and units. They are finite and you have to plan carefully too. There is a trade system for resources but it will get expensive if your economy is unbalanced. There is also a fame system which give you benefits at some points and a knowledge system which is critical. When you fill the bar you can chose a new invention from 3 separate trees that help enormous. Also after getting enough you can chose a divine favor with 2 of them being always incredible useful. There are different clans with their own strengths and some individual abilities. A good decision are the winning conditions. You can win outside the main campaign in many ways like fame, knowledge, trade or just plain defeating other clans. There is also a satisfaction system for your population that is important. The more satisfied your people are the faster you get new settlers. Also if the satisfaction drops below a certain point your resources gathering drops. Be careful with this. All mentioned above are well interwoven in a robust system that is easy to learn while giving you a lot to master or to adapt. The campaign and characters are enjoyable and I will praise the art style. So far this is on a 9-10/10 rating route for me if there were not the negative points. These are: Corrupting my save files. I could not finish the last mission on the campaign as my save files could not be read. This happened later with another file from a different mission. There are slow downs and the game crashed. These are valid problems but strangely I still enjoyed the game. Overall it is a good game that I would avoid because of the bugs. Maybe the PC port is better. Check this out if it is an option would be my final advice. Expand
