After three years of development, which were converted to 20 hours of playtime, The Evil Within 2 has totally unlocked its predecessor's potential. The wonderful story, the blood-freezing atmosphere, the big variety of horrific monsters and the great progress systems make The Evil Within 2 one of the best survival-horror games of the last few years. Indeed, the game is not bug-free, but those technical issues rarely happen and don't hurt the overall experience. If you like the genre (and particularly the previous title), The Evil Within 2 will be one of your best nightmares yet.
Evil Within 2 brings the classic survival horror formula - to the modern times. Few are the games of today that will grant you that "barely made it" feeling you had playing Resident Evil ages ago. A near perfect, pure survival horror gem.
Um dos melhores jogos de terror que já joguei na minha vida, muito boa a jogabilidade diferente dos jogos de terror que tem por ai, e a história dele nem sé fala e excelente ela, uma pena recentemente terem matado a franquia.
John Johanas has masterfully taken up the directorial reigns and given us a game that, while it shares many trace elements of DNA with its predecessor, has more than enough of a distinct identity in order to separate it from the pack.
The Evil Within 2 has fine-tuned its solid mechanical base and visuals, and even crafted some big improvements to areas such as exploration and character direction. Yet it lacks creativity and diversity with its level design and bosses. The game may be more presentable and refined than its predecessor, but it's also lost some substance in the process.
Title: A Terrifyingly Brilliant Masterpiece: The Evil Within 2 Review
The Evil Within 2, developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda Softworks, stands as a towering achievement in the horror genre, refining and expanding upon the foundations laid by its predecessor to deliver an experience that is as psychologically unsettling as it is narratively compelling. This game is not just a sequel; it's an evolution of survival horror, combining a deeply atmospheric world, intricate storytelling, and heart-pounding gameplay into a seamless, unforgettable journey into fear.
From the opening moments, The Evil Within 2 establishes an oppressive atmosphere of dread that permeates every aspect of the game. Set in the nightmarish world of STEM, the game's environments are a twisted blend of the familiar and the grotesquely surreal, challenging players to navigate a landscape where danger lurks around every corner. The level design is impeccable, offering a mix of open exploration and claustrophobic tension that keeps players constantly on edge.
Gameplay in The Evil Within 2 is a masterclass in survival horror mechanics. Ammunition and resources are scarce, forcing players to make difficult decisions about when to fight and when to flee. Stealth plays a crucial role, with shadows and quiet movements often being the best tools for survival. The game's crafting system adds depth to resource management, allowing players to customize their approach to the challenges ahead.
What truly sets The Evil Within 2 apart is its narrative. The story of Sebastian Castellanos' search for his daughter Lily in the nightmarish world of STEM is both haunting and emotionally resonant. The narrative weaves a complex tale of guilt, redemption, and the lengths to which a parent will go to save their child. The characters are well-developed, each with their own motivations and secrets that unfold in surprising ways as the story progresses.
The Evil Within 2 also excels in its presentation. The visual design is stunning, with environments that range from eerily beautiful to outright horrifying. The use of lighting and shadow creates an atmosphere that is both oppressive and mesmerizing. The game's audio design is equally impressive, with a soundtrack that perfectly captures the mood of despair and terror, and sound effects that heighten the sense of immersion and dread.
Moreover, The Evil Within 2 offers a significant amount of player agency, with multiple paths through its twisted world and a variety of ways to approach encounters with its horrifying denizens. This, combined with the game's side quests and hidden secrets, provides a rich, layered experience that encourages exploration and rewards player curiosity.
In conclusion, The Evil Within 2 is a triumph in horror gaming, a chilling and captivating journey that pushes the boundaries of the genre. It balances terror, storytelling, and gameplay with a deft hand, creating an experience that is as thought-provoking as it is frightening. With its deep narrative, challenging gameplay, and atmospheric world, The Evil Within 2 is not just a standout title in its genre but a masterpiece of video gaming as a whole. It is a must-play for fans of horror and storytelling alike, a game that will haunt your dreams long after you've put down the controller.
I think that open world and horror genres are never will be a good combination. Giving players too much freedom to run away or just play it safe kinda ruins the horror experience. This game is a okay sequence to The Evil Within 1. This time, it's focused on Sebastian and his problems. Even if the story is a bit cliche it still serves it's purpouse. It was good for sebastian to have more of a story to tell but it was undermined by the game's design and level choices. There wasn't any great boss designs like the previous game (like the keeper). Stefano Valentini seemed interesting but I feel like his death was rushed. If the game didn't have open world and a better idea for it's characters this game would've been much better in my opinion.
is that a joke? i played this game after re revelation, re revelation 2, evil within first one, and what i got?... silly plot that start the game.. "-oh your dother with us, bring her to us -ok!" its stupid for my opinion and it's just start. And all that main idea of the game about family and other things that boring. I just want to play Evil within part 2 dammit! after game i saw that main director was not japanese and understand why this game not even close to the first one.
