Road 96 becomes, thanks to its fine writing and its ability to make you think and reflect, into one of the best independent video games of 2021. An excellent journey of encounters with your ideals and, above all, with those of others.
Road 96 is so different when you first play it Everything is excellent, the characters, the story, everything is extremely well-done, even though initially I didn't expect much. What a great game
Developer Digixart has crafted a thoughtful look at what it’s like to live in tumultuous circumstances, and how it can affect people emotionally. It’s sadly prescient of the world we actually live in, and maybe that’s why Road 96’s message of survival and perseverance make the impact it does, at least the first time around.
Certainly Road 96 isn't a game for the masses, it's a bit of a niche. But this does not mean that it cannot please those who want to try something new and special. If you like compelling and captivating stories, backstories and slightly daring adventures, if you love the fact that every choice made has a weight on the unfolding of events, then it is a title that you could and should try. It is certainly an experience different from many others that in the end they all look a bit alike.
Even with some messy execution on its political themes, Road 96 succeeds at capturing a fractious journey on the road and the turmoil of modern American politics. A deeper exploration of Petria’s history may give more context to the game’s narrative of taking change of your own destiny. But without this background, it ends up oversimplifying its premise by positing that the only barrier to equity and justice is a strongman in a suit. In reality, injustice runs far deeper.
Road 96 is a game that fall short of its promises. Branching storylines all have the same outcomes, and subplots of many characters are to predictable, even if a little funny.
The story follows a long journey of young people who want to get out of an authoritarian country. Road 96 begins in the summer of 1996 in the fictional authoritarian country of Petria. We take on the role of a young man who wants to leave the country. During his travels, our protagonist meets many interesting people, some of whom want to help him, others don't. The fate of your character and perhaps the fate of the country you live in depends on the choices you make. First of all, our goal is to get to know the world around us and the people we meet. The game captures the atmosphere of traveling into the unknown very well. The game focuses on the player's choices and their consequences throughout the journey. Throughout the journey, there are many different events that will surprise you regardless of your choices. By doing so, the developers have ensured that each new game is almost completely different from the last. Digixanrt has also taken great care to create an eye-catching and pastel-colored graphic design. In addition, the developers have not forgotten the moody soundtrack to match the story. During the journey we can listen to many hits from the 1990s. With multiple endings, the game offers an average gameplay of 10 hours or more.
Interesting idea and that's basically where the good things about this game end . Few characters are kinda good but the ending is the most disappointing thing I saw since DeathLoop and that is an achievement in itself. Waste of time and money, if you wanna play for the plot and there is NO GAMEPLAY, so don't look for that in this game either, also it looks extremely bad like early ps3 bad.
