The We Were Here series is in a class of its own, and Forever is the best entry yet. Grab a buddy and get ready to test both your brains over about 15 hours of gameplay that constantly impresses and brings new things to the table.
I really enjoyed my time with We Were Here Forever. Sure, I played it during finals at school and after long, long days at work, so my brain frequently was already overworked, and sure, I had to laugh at myself very, very frequently for overlooking obvious things and overthinking puzzles. But there’s something to be said for the sense of accomplishment for figuring out some genuinely wild puzzles. We Were Here Forever is one long, brilliantly designed escape room puzzle that requires constant communication between players, making for a truly unique experience that will be hard to replicate. I definitely recommend grabbing a good friend and diving in. You won’t regret it.
If you've got a like minded friend who loves puzzles and escape rooms as much as you do, We Were Here Forever is a very special game with a 12 hour co-op campaign full of some of the most clever puzzles around.
We Were Here Forever is a good brain workout that will give you more hours of puzzle fun than all previous We Were Here games combined. The puzzles are pleasantly challenging and the flow is good for most of the game. However, due to the slightly too high degree of repetition and long-windedness, you are too often dragged out of that flow, so that the game can certainly be a bridge too far for newcomers. Get it if you're familiar with the genre, but rather play the earlier games if you've never tried a digital escape room like this before.
We Were Here Forever has some good ideas but stumbles into unbalanced puzzles that leave one player standing around and sounding like Darth Vader in their walkie-talkie.
The 4th addition to this wonderful series. You will find yourself lost in the stories and beautiful artwork, then find yourself lost in a complex beautiful puzzle communicating with friend. Then the satisfaction of finishing the puzzle, while admiring the great animation and surroundings around you. This addition was the first to be more story forward, throwing you in the middle of various cut scenes as a mere fly on the wall, yet sometimes being used as a piece of the story. While playing this game, I felt fully submerged inside the game. It gives you time to reflect on the story and you truly get the sense that you are apart of it, and what you are doing matters in the story.
This has been one of my favorite series and my favorite game of this series. Highly recommend.
I haven't had this much fun with a co-op game in a really long time. The music is mostly minimal but still enjoyable. The sound design is terrific. The puzzles are wildly inventive and clever, and my partner and I never got bored trying to untangle the current puzzle together. I just...absolutely love everything this game is doing. It's such a nice change of pace to have a co-op puzzle game.
I will dock one point for a few things: there was one awful puzzle that gave us wrong information (it's the seated dolls one) and was nearly impossible to solve, and a few bugs where one of the puzzles glitched out or our character models glitched out of bounds and we had to restart the game.
Bugs aside, this is a helluva good time. Highly recommend.
If you like Portal 2 co-op, Myst and spending time with a good friend in general, this is THE game to play. It's unique in both setting as well as puzzle design. It will have you head scratching and may be even have you yelling at each other from time to time. But in the end the puzzle are so well designed, that when you hear the puzzle complete sound it feels like a great accomplishment.
I was very much impressed by the visuals, gameplay and especially the music! I will give it a 10 when the devs have made some performance improvements. But don't wait for this to happen, because it is already a great game to play!!
This game had the potential but most of the puzzles were just time consuming brainless trying of all possibilities. Such a shame, there were good parts but the ending was just a miserable titanic meme, a disgrace.
