Ok, had to make an account just to show some love to this game. Think Mario Kart with an arcade twist. The action is frantic, the AI is unforgiving and the driving is as tight as can be. This game has a huge difficulty curve and will take more than a week (*ahem*) to get the hang of. The soundtrack kicks ass and fits perfectly. The weapons control incredibly well. The game is perfectly playable on a keyboard but is a bit better with a controller plugged in. There are tons of levels and the leaderboards offer a lot of incentive to run every race as best as you can. All in all its the single best racing game I've ever played and I am not exaggerating one bit. I also paid about $2 for the game but given the ~100 hours I've put in to it I would gladly have paid $60. Perfect game that does not get the credit it deserves.
First let me just say this game is oddly fun to play, you'd think it wouldn't capture your attention for long but I've played this over 8 hours and it's still fun as hell. Assuming hell is fun. The AI is smart and well programmed almost all of the time, and the challenge is perfect. The upgrades at complexity to the game and makes it feel like a top down, arcade Mario Kart, with more intense weapons. There are tournament races you can compete in for medals, or you can simply do some free racing on your track of choice. And when you get bored with the available tracks, you can use the extremely simple level editor and make your own! I've had countless hours of fun on my own tracks, creating huge clusters with infinite powerups, it's so hectic and exciting, it would be a crime to not recommend this to anyone that wants to have some fun and play a simple racing game. The achievements are fun as well, I almost have them all and they're fun to achieve throughout your progress while racing a crossed many different maps with up to 12 drivers at a time. Even if this isn't on sale I recommend it, it's only $4.99 and can offer a lot of fun if you accept it for what it is.
This game is a bit underrated. It's sort of a cross between Geometry Wars, F-Zero, and Mario Kart. It's got some good music, non-stop chaotic action, a good variety of well balanced ships, and the AI provides a decent challenge in case you can't find anyone to play with (seriously, this game has MP). There's also a track editor if you get bored with the 24 included tracks.
First thing you think when you start this game for the first time is: "seriously"? Then you actually play it and that's when you realize you can't stop. Gameplay is compelling and the great music helps to transform each and every race in a funny experience.
Now don't get me wrong, this is not a bad game. It is very fun to play, and it was definitely worth buying (when i bought it, it was on a sale, for $1.66). However, in the down side, the controls were extremely hard to learn, and, for me, it is impossible to win a race. I am a noob at this game and have only played for about a week, so for others, this game's controls may be very easy to learn. This game could have better music, i geniunely disliked some of the music in the game (though some were actually very good). Otherwise, this game is very fun to play. If the controls weren't so hard to learn (and understand) and if the music was improved, then this game would definitely be a ten out of ten.
