An Arcade game that was innovative in its time for its gameplay and that will definitely be worth your investment. If you like the genre it is a game that you have to know, either by the beautiful songs or by its historical mark. Zero Gunner 2 is really a great game.

This is a refreshingly unique take on the shmup genre which has some neat ideas but also builds on Psikyo's other good work – the amazing transforming bosses the company is famous for reach their pinnacle here. The biggest problem is that Zero Gunner 2 lacks longevity, even when you take the two-player mode, multiple difficulty levels and (offline) high score table into account. With that said, it's still an essential download for shooter fans and is creative enough to be recommended to those who have a passing interest in the genre but want something a little different.

Innovative turning mechanic separates this from the crowd. Scoring comes from picking up orbs dropped by downed enemies but, in anotherInnovative turning mechanic separates this from the crowd. Scoring comes from picking up orbs dropped by downed enemies but, in another departure from the norm, these only drift towards your craft when you release the fire button. Features common Psikyo practice of rotating first stages to give replays a little extra freshness.

Could do with some more basic features, however. Online leaderboards would increase longevity as well as a free play mode for the later levels. For pure gameplay though, can hardly be faulted.
