This game has some sort of potential, however, it is wrapped by awful gameplay and probably the worst controls in Wrestling history. The game mostly remains unchanged even if you played WWE 07 or some sort, you will easily find your way into this game. The roster is fresh, and finally, full of superstars from previous eras. The main attraction of this game is the "Attitude Era". Here you beat people up, sort of like in a "story mode", but with much more acting and fake screams of pain. The era is actually the best idea the developers thought of in a while the stories make you remember the awesome time when wrestling was actually incredibly entertaining. All the matches are divided into sections be it Rise of DX, Austin 3:16 or Brothers of Destruction, and they follow the events happened more than a decade ago pretty closely. Every match has a main objective usually it is "beat the guy down" or "win the match". Everything is perfect. But here comes the first awful decision Historical Bonus Objectives. I don't mind that in order to unlock a costume or an extra arena, you have to do something really hard, like win without finishers and in two minutes, but when it is almost necessary to get them, because they unlock the superstars and other matches which also unlock more superstars. It would be somewhat fine, but the objectives are incredibly difficult, but all for the wrong reasons. The controls ruin the game. The Wii lacks the buttons, agreed, but why couldn't it improve the detection of strikes? It seems you are playing a cheap port made by a two people group. Worst of all, there is no way of changing the controls, or any settings in fact! Whenever you change any setting, like turn on the HUD (because for any dumb reason, it is off by default) and proceed to a next match, the settings return to default... The poor controls would be excusable, but when the objectives require you to perform an EXACT move at a specific time, it gets horrible. Let us take one example: The Historical Bonus Objective says: Perform a 10 punch combo. Of course, you have no idea what it is, and there isn't any explanations in the game, so you go to the web and find that you need to Irish whip an opponent into a specific corner when he is injured. But that's not all, after you, say, Irish whip someone, you have to perform a specific input to start punching the foe. But that still isn't all, you have to start tapping the button by 3 or 4 mashes and not more, because then you would be reversed. But in order to do THAT you have to injure the opponent hard enough, so he wouldn't reverse you in the first two punches, and that is why you have to perform a signature. Not only is that hard enough already, you can't use any finishers, since that is an another Historical Bonus Objective. And unused signatures become finishers in like, 5 seconds or so, but you can't USE the finishers (which are way stronger). But here's the thing, after you succeed at performing the combo in 20th time, you have to escape the cage. Not only you are incredibly injured and tired after trying in vain to perform a combo, you just can't escape. You just can't! If you try to climb the wall after your opponent is reduced to pulp, he miraculously wakes up and throws you back, giving a 0.02 millisecond time window to react. Then he tries to climb the wall, and you can't even stand up! This part itself took me over 4 hours. 4 hours for a BONUS objective! (The unlock was the original Triple H, who happens to be my favorite superstar). After reducing the difficulty to Medium from Legendary (Legendary proved to be too difficult for this exact mission after 4 attempts), then reduced it to Easy after 3 more failed attempts, and, after the Easy mode beat me another 4 tries in vain, I was so enraged, I took a bite off my Wii remote. I regret buying this game and taking a bite off my remote. PS. The Superstar creation is worse than WWE 08 on PSP (a dated, portable console) … Expand
