Halo 3 picks up where "Halo 2" left off. The Master Chief is returning to Earth to finish the fight. The Covenant occupation of Earth has uncovered a massive and ancient object beneath the African sands - an object who's secrets have yet to be revealed. Earth's forces are battered and beaten. The Master Chief's AI companion Cortana is still trapped in the clutches of the Gravemind - a horrifying Flood intelligence, and a civil war is raging in the heart of the Covenant. It's solid gameplay, immense replayability, online functionality and incredible production values will ensure its place in video game history, and it is, without a doubt, a satisfying and fulfilling close to the beloved trilogy[?].

In substance it's nothing new, merely a magnificent, beautiful monster of an FPS sequel. In concept and execution, though, Halo 3 is the future. [Nov 2007, p.80]

Halo 3 is essential. An Xbox 360 without a copy of the game is like a human without a heart.
  4. Halo 3 gives a deeper, smoother and grander ride then ever before.
  5. The combination of the excellent campaign, tried and true multiplayer, and online co-op make this a game that shouldn't be missed by anyone.
  6. Halo 3 may not fully live up to the obscene hype, but it certainly survives it.
  7. The ads promise an epic tale of tragedy, sacrifice, and heroism that Halo 3 really had no hope in hell of ever delivering. More troubling, however, is the fact that after playing the game, I can suggest with some certainty that they promised a game that Bungie didn't even bother trying to produce.

Michael B. has everything right. The Needler and the pistol have become completly pointless. The Needler because of it is weak as hell now Michael B. has everything right. The Needler and the pistol have become completly pointless. The Needler because of it is weak as hell now and the pistol... well... it was really only good in halo 1 and kinda fun to dual wield in halo 2 but it sucks in halo 3. What I like: melee has gotten stronger, you can just smack the Brutes up if you play on easy. The Gravity Hammer is a great addition to the arsenal. Its AOF ability is just pure genius. Its like: Hey you Master Chief look here, I'm a big fat Brute!!! MC: "STFU!" - And then you just smack him in the face real good and blow up everything standing around too with a single blow. That is "Combat Evolved." Expand

Anyone who ever gave this game anything less than a 7 is lying to themselves. It may not be a 10 but you know its pretty damn good. TheAnyone who ever gave this game anything less than a 7 is lying to themselves. It may not be a 10 but you know its pretty damn good. The multiplayer alone should warrant an automatic 9 and when you pile on the deep (and yes, at times convoluted) story it has to be at least a 9.5. If you own an XBOX 360 and have somehow not experienced the excellence that is the Halo series, do yourself a service and pick this up on the cheap. Trust. Expand

Many levels in the campaign feel tiredly familiar, where instead, they're meant to feel nostalgic to Halo 1. Some moments are memorable and provided me with the *wow* factor only a title like Halo 3 could bring, while others made me feel empty, seeming like I was not playing an evolution to an OK series (Halo 1 = good, Halo 2 = bad), but merely a lesser tribute to the first game (making it the entire experience feel average). For every great joust in the campaign there seems to be an empty feeling accompanying it. The story and its pacing are not nearly on par with the original Halo, of which the series owes much of its Expand

Nothing about this game really stands out as truly revolutionary, but this will definitely keep gamers busy for awhile. One of the main problems (for people like me) is that this game, like all the other games in the series, look exactly the same, and in all truth, you are playing the exact same game again only with new weapons, maps etc... If you are a huge huge fan of Halo, which I know there are many here, this is exactly what you've been waiting for, for people hoping for some radical change or something innovative, you should at least give the game a try, it won't blow your brains out but it will keep you busy. Its the same exact thing as halo 2, the graphics aren't better only shinier. The single player campaign (which i know not many people care for) thoroughly disappointed me. Wtf? Cortana has feelings now and everyone is in love with her? And the multiplayer just has a fancy camera now, if only it made as huge a jump as Halo2 did from Halo1, it being the next-gen and all.
