With its organic controls, beautiful visuals and amazing presentation, it quickly becomes an addicting experience that's tough to stop playing, even during some of the most frustrating parts of the game. Though its online modes slightly tarnish on the experience, the rest of the game more than makes up for it.
  2. Skate finds the sweet spot between boring simulation and hyper-realism--then totally owns it. [Nov 2007, p.98]
  3. [An] incredibly fresh and successful take on skating controls, as well as a wide-open city with six-player online options (we liked the Deathraces and the Spot Battles). Skate is logical, authentic, and blissfully organic. Robots need not apply.
  4. Skate’s intuitive, but incredibly deep control scheme and extremely realistic physics model feel wonderful in motion. If you’re looking for a realistic approximation of skateboarding, look no further. Skate will not disappoint.
  5. Skate has changed the way skateboarding games should be designed and played. Hopefully this is a wake up call to Tony Hawk developer Neversoft to be more creative and less complacent.

On balance, I personally will probably stick with the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series. But there is definitely an audience out there for Skate.
  7. A technically strong game tailored to hardcore skaters (and people up for a really serious challenge), this one will alienate casual gamers, as the learning curve can be excruciating.

Excellent game which provides real value for money. EA must be commended on their efforts for reviving a flagging skateboarding genre.

Skate feels like you are taking part in an actual skate video as you try to bust tricks, not only for points but for your visual satisfaction. As a skater myself, it would have been nice if addition tricks such as darkslides and Rodney Mullen-type flatland tricks were incorporated, however Skate does offer countless hours of trying to master a triple-flip over a 20 stair or switch big flip to blunt slide, late flip out. I skateboard in real life and this is much closer to skateboarding than Tony Hawk. After 8 years of TH im a little tired of bs missiongs like I skateboard in real life and this is much closer to skateboarding than Tony Hawk. After 8 years of TH im a little tired of bs missiongs like grinding a lamp pole wire for 100 yards and doing one impossible trick after another you forget that its a skateboarding game. if you land a good trick in skate you have a sense of accomplishment rather than scoring 100,000 points in an impossible combo without breaking a sweat. Nick D. Id say the exact opposite for you, you cant handle something even close to skateboarding so stick to buttonmashing. Expand

The environments are beautiful, the sound is great (with some truly amazing songs in the soundtrack) and the controls are nearly perfect. Coming up with new lines is one of the most fun challenges ever, and you will never run out of lines to try out. Expand

I love the fact that the only people here giving a positive comment on the game don't have a last name and no matter how much they skate I love the fact that the only people here giving a positive comment on the game don't have a last name and no matter how much they skate in real life, this game is like heaven to them. Odd that. And someone actually respects the EA "guyz". Yeah, nice try Black Box. Expand
