Equal parts confounding, challenging, and insanely fun, “Dashcam” is horror at its most inventive.
Dashcam delivers a relentless, evolving monster movie that utilizes familiar genre tropes from various influences, including “REC,” “Chronicle,” and “Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones.” However, it brings enough to the table that doesn’t feel familiar to make it work effectively.

Dashcam was nearly about to hit the jackpot, but the towering exaggeration towards the final made me lose my attention. Technically speaking, the movie is a masterpiece. But I lost my focus on the film after a while because of too much camera shake.

Its director helmed a film that had gotten tons of attention and to me had seemed terrible. I'm talking about Host.
I guess a lot of people live online and found the experience of that film somehow ''interesting''.
Now, that film was no experiment, and neither is this one, but it shows how stretching out something that shouldn't be so long completely undermines the atmosphere its creator thinks he's building.
Also, with such a repellent lead character and such an annoyingly limited narrative device, to me Dashcam simply can't pull off anything that can feel scary or sinister in any way.
There's commitment in it. But that's all.

While the break-neck pacing effectively creates a chaotic feeling, it eventually takes away from the film’s harrowing effects. Nevertheless, even the most hardened horror fan is likely to feel a chill up their spine during the film.
Dashcam is nothing if not consistent, as it’s every bit the empty provocation as the troll at its center.
Annie is a lot to handle, even for the truncated 77-minute run time, and maybe it would work better as a V/H/S 20-minute slot – but then you wouldn't get quite so amazingly infuriated by her. Dashcam, like few films, relies on your annoyance.
The result is at once fun and fatiguing. Scary it’s not, and many viewers will find their patience tested by the character they most hope will be dealt a quick demise being the one we’re principally stuck with.
Rob Savage’s Dashcam is the equivalent of strapping a GoPro to a Republican edgelord’s dirty diaper and throwing it into a blender.
This movie suffered from two problems. The first was the decision to cast Annie Hardy in it. She's insufferable. She's so thoroughly unlikeable that it's grating to watch her do anything at all. Second, the pace of the movie isn't well thought out. At times it drags, and the viewer is stuck watching a despicable character be awful for long stretches of time.
When supernatural things happen in the film, it would be reasonably interesting if we cared at ALL what happens to Annie Hardy. It's just that you wished she would die already and stop talking.
