More than the story of a disillusioned old man, Lustre is a loving tribute to New York.
This modest drama is a touching tribute to the late Argo, a character actor you'll instantly recognize.
But if the storytelling is murky, the filmmaking is stunning and, more important, the passion for this city -- its people and landscape -- is pure.
The film is marred by a reliance on cheap DV effects, but authenticity strains through in the performances.
The film's woozy, digital-video gorgeousness is undeniable, and the glittering shots from atop the Brooklyn Bridge could make a tough guy weep.
Argo's job should only be a minor piece of this Gotham mosaic, but Jones makes the racketeering scenes so familiar that they grate against the rest of the movie.
