What season two lacks in sex montages it makes up for in emotional resonance.
So, sure, at times the first few episodes could drag on, but it was impossible not to stay invested in seeing the whole thing play out. Thankfully, the back half of the season is where things really heat up. In all the ways you imagine.

An absolutely exceptional season that opens up the world of Bridgerton to greater explore the family history and dynamics along with the towns people. The addition of Kate and Edwina Sharma only create a fresh story that plays out in beautiful and dramatic fashion. Most especially Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey as Kate and Anthony give a new definition to chemistry and the slow burn that pays off in the end. They are exquisite together and absolutely mesmerizing. This is a must watch for fans!

SEASON 2
Season 2 proves that there's more than one Bridgerton worth rooting for, and considering future seasons will follow the romantic escapades of other siblings (artsy Benedict is up next), these new episodes pass an important test. "Bridgerton" wasn't just a one-hit wonder.
Clever asides here and there suggest this is a more PBS version of the romance novel; scant bedroom scenes confirm it. Season Two gets its heat from Anthony’s no-nonsense way of going about his matrimonial business. ... Bailey plays this oh-so-smoothly and raises the bar on “Bridgerton’s” elegance.
Deprived the company of the Duke (with Regé-Jean Page having opted to move on), the series remains frothy and watchable, if perhaps a bit less Lady Whistledown-worthy in this latest iteration.
But over the course of the season’s eight episodes running a solid hour-long each, this “Bridgerton” return too often feels like a luxurious carriage stuck in the mud, spinning its wheels before eventually heaving itself back on the road. ... The good news about Season 2, though, is that for as deliberately frustrating as the main love story becomes, the actors playing it are very, very good.
Unfortunately for “Bridgerton” season two, much of the novelty has worn off the Chris Van Dusen-run Shondaland series, which struggles to replicate the recipe while missing a few key ingredients.
This is high drama entertainment. Great performances and of fun! The chemistry between the leads is electric, and while I could have done without some of the side plots, I was very pleased with Season 2!

SEASON 2
I think what made the first season so magnetic wasn't just the passion or the sex, but being able to escape into this fantasy during COVID times. Although season 2 still had beautiful sets and costumes, several of the characters this season made choices that rendered them unlikeable and at times grating on the nerves (Lady Danbury) Things don't resolve even a little, until the last two episodes. Not enough time to for the audience to adjust to a happier ending. The directions that the side stories went in also didn't really go anywhere, nor did they seems super relevant. It felt like everyone was moping until the very last episode.

The first season was charming, sometimes witty. The second season is just dull, with no self reflection and surprisingly dumb conversations. It feels like this was made by completely other writers.
I managed to view the whole second season in hope it would get better, it did not. I will not even bother with the third season (if there will be one, it seems most people disliked this season).

The quality of writing has taken a serious nosedive. It's hard to take the show seriously when there are such poorly written lines trying to sound profound or wise.
